I've noticed a trend starting...
...and I don't know if it's just in my area or if it's going on all over the country. Although it IS happening on multiple stations, so it's not just Fox. Or just CBS. ALL the channels are doing this.
Truncated PSA commercials.
You know, the ones that are Anti-smoking or Talk to your Kids about Drugs. Or check for heart disease. Basically the commercials that are mandated airtime, but don't shill a product are getting shafted. They'll show the first second or two, ostensibly to meet the parameters, but then they'll immediately cut to another commercial.
And this happens all the time now.
I know it's because the channels are over selling their ad space and if it comes down to it, they're going with the 30 seconds that gives them revenue. But I think it's dirty pool.
Is this happening in your neck of the woods? Or just Eastern Iowa/ Western Illinois?

I haven't seen it around here.
I still see those fucking "talking baby" commercials that are an affront to God and nature.

I haven't seen them either.anarky wrote:I haven't seen it around here.

Are you talking about those talking baby commercials for some stock broker? What's worse than those is the new one for some shaving products. They superimpose a baby's head on someone's body, give him a goatee, dance, and have him driving around picking up women. Its kind of disturbing.

Stock brokers, Quizno's, I don't care who the fuck is doing it this week--taking babies and using CG to make them talk is so unnatural and evil that Hitler doesn't have the worst spot in hell anymore.

Re: I've noticed a trend starting...
Speaking of babies, I've noticed a disturbing trend in commercials. Infants getting hooked on technology, and the advertiser making it seem like its good and adorable.
The first one is the iPhone 500,000 apps and counting commercial that ends with "why would anyone want to limit the iPhone?" and shows an image of a two year old with its eyes glues to a phone.
The second one is the parents spelling T-A-B-L-E-T while their baby sits at the table already hooked on angry birds or whatever.
The newest one is some voice activated TV from Samsung or somebody and the little girl at the end says "Hello, TV" and the TV turns on and the mom looks at her daughter with an 'Awwww' as if she just spoke her first words...To the fucking television set.
I find that a VERY disturbing trend.

Does anyone else find this commercial hilariously conflicted?
It's celebrating "uniqueness" by having a parade of lemmings all trammeling in the same direction wearing the same fucking outfit. I find the irony refreshingly honest.

Quick Mini Poll:
Whose hotter in that Dr. Pepper commercial?
The "I'm a Rebel" hottie in the white t-shirt?
Or the chick at the end wearing a shirt two sizes too tight?

"No Tom Foolery today, Ron. I'm tired of looking at your dreadful, speckled mug."
"Why do you hurt me in this way, Harry?"
”It’s a grid system motherfucker. Eleven up and one over, you simple bitch.”

You know that Best Buy commercial that has all the different guys saying "I invented the phone camera" or "I created this app".
And then they get to the two fuckheads on the plane that say "We created Words with Friends"
Excuse me? Words with Friends is just Scrabble. Did you fuckheads invent Scrabble? No. You did not.
So. What. Now we can just go around renaming shit and suddenly we invented it?
"Hey! Guess what! This thing I just invented has four wheels, an engine, and a steering wheel. I call it a Bloggoid. I just thought it up."
It doesn't work that way. Fuckheads.

We get re-dubbed American ads here. God damn arse clingers from hellspawn. I hate you all for eternity.
I have never read any of your posts, but from what I can learn I should say that for people who like the kind of posts you deliver, they are just the kind of posts such people like.

Re: I've noticed a trend starting...
I don't know what it is Rollo, but we get american ads and they have that weird fuzzy look because of the conversion from one format to another viz a viz scan lines count. Then there's all those toothy buttclowns looking braindead but they have british voices that sound like someone is buzzing their cunt with a vibrating popsicle. Horrible horribleness. I tried looking for an example on youtoob but couldn't find anything that was good quality to show you what we get.

That conversion downgrade thing is strange as well. We do live in a digital age after all.
