transformers: alternators
i just picked up one of the most AWESOME transformers i've ever seen - the first of the new line of alternators: smokescreen.
this guy is really pretty big, and very detailed, and the robot form looks sooooooo cool... the gun even is part of the car - it's the intercooler for the turbo. when you open the hood, you take it out and flip it open. fucking cool...
here's some really good pics...

Wheeljacks out?? Awww man. The hunt renews.
I saw Shockblast the other day and almost broke my "don't buy Decepticons" rule. Luckily when I went back he was gone. Looked pretty sweet though.
They definitely need to make an Ironhide, Brawn, Trailbreaker, Sunstreaker, Cliffjumper, Gears, Bumblebee, Huffer, and Ratchet.

So Target, Wal-Mart and TRU clearanced out their Alternator inventories leading up to the Holiday season, signifying the end of this line in stores. That sucks. All good things come to an end. I was bummed because I hadn't even found a Wheeljack and was contemplatiing spending $30+ online for one when I happened into TRU today and FOUND WHEELJACK AND PROWL. I RULE!!!!
Sadly we will probably never get Red Alert and Sunstreaker like the Takara versions. And where is Bumblebee? How could you not whip up a Bumblebee? Or an Ironhide? That old goat has been without a head ( a face sticker planted on a chair in his cab is not a head) for over 20 years. Poor bastard.

Actually, old buddy, I've heard from a few sources I consider to be fairly reliable that none of the stores are dropping the Alternators. Wal-Mart is planning to start carrying them again sometime next spring and apparently used their clout as the million-pound gorilla to pressure Hasbro into making the case assortments more reasonable. (They don't like having a dozen Smokescreens on the shelves two or three years after the release any more than we like finding only those Smokescreens.)

yeah, the line looks to be alive and well, with the announcement of an optimus prime alternator - sure, we've got the masterpiece edition, but hasbro wanted to do the dodge ram pickup and pickups are nearly non-existent in japan - the solution? "convoy" ALWAYS sells, no matter what he turns into (lio-convoy, anyone?) so we'll make him convoy/OP...
