Toyfares Top 100 toys

Post by Eternal Padawan »

I was just flipping thru the latest issue of Toyfare that I borrowed from a friend and saw their list. Since it was their 10th anniversary issue, the candidates were limited to toys from the past 10 years. Older toys or resculpts/reissues of older toys were ineligible (so TerrorDrome and Imperial Shuttle were out). Happily, I own the top 4 toys. Out of the 100, I only have 33 of them, but there are about a dozen more I WOULD own (Like the Balrog, or Masterpiece Megatron) if I had the cheddar for them.

Here are the Top Ten.

10. Lt Stone. (GIJoe Sigma 6)
9. Superman-Angry Face (JLA, DCDirect)
8. Deluxe Hellboy (Mezco Comic line)
7. Masterpiece Voltron (Toynami)
6. PITT (Legendary Comic Book Heroes BAF)
5. Space Ghost (Space Ghost Coast2Coast, Toycom)
4. Trapjaw (MOTU, Mattel)
3. Sauron (LOTR, Toybiz)
2. 18 inch Spider-Man (Spider-Man 2, Toybiz)
1. 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime (Hasbro)
"Say Jim! WHOOOO! That is a bad outFIT! Whooo!"--Pimp, Superman The Movie
"You're an idiot, Starscream." --Megatron,Transformers: The Movie

I'd honestly have to say that Marvel Legends Gambit and Sigma Six Snake Eyes both belong on the list.

Uh, what the fuck is Classics Devastator doing on the list?

Not only is it a repaint (albeit still less than a 10 year old mold), the toy fucking blows. There are only three different figures (two repeated in different paint schemes). Except for the fucking BotCon pack, I've got all the Classics. Devastator and the Prime vs Megatron are the only ones I don't display since they look like shit. At least the two-pack I got on clearance. Can't say that about Devastator.

Speaking of which, Classics Jetfire and Grimlock definitely belong on the list.

that's all i've got. weird. i think there are quite a few missing from that list, as 'nark pointed out - grimmy from classics at least. some of the harry potter figures should be on the list - sirius black especially.
Life is short. STUNT IT!

I've got:

94. Gandalf the White MiniMate (How the fuck did this make the list and Ephant Mon didn't?)
93. X2 Nightcrawler (This was a kick ass figure)
85. Jack Skellington
81. VOTC Stormtrooper
58. VOTC Boba Fett
47. Helm's Deep Legolas
19. Naboo Royal Starship
14. NECA Balrog
3. Sauron (a good figure, but it's not better than the Balrog)

I was actually going to buy the 18 inch Spider-Man when it first came out, but I decided to get the smaller super articulated version instead.
Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the gun.
