Concert Weekend
On Friday Night, I went to the Viper Room ( you know, the place where River Phoenix died) and saw Billy Joel's Daughter, Alexa Ray Joel in "concert". Concert is a relative term since the Viper Room can fit like 50 people inside standing room only.
Then on Saturday I drove down to San Diego ( well, actually an Indian Casino/Outlet Mall/ Outdoor Concert Park in Alpine) and saw Joss Stone.
Yes, Joss Stone. ( I'm talking to you anarky.)
And we were about ten feet from the stage, so it was very cool.
That was my weekend. What hotties did YOU watch sing?

Re: Concert Weekend
The Mrs. & I saw Linkin Park in concert a couple of weekends ago. It was a good show, but it made me feel WAY older than I really am. Luckily there were some even older folks there.... but they were in the minority.
Who else have you jokers seen live? Here's my list off the top of my head:
A Tribe Called Qwest (Lollapalooza only)
Tom Petty
Beastie Boys (x2, including once at Lollapalooza but it was a ROCKIN' full set)
Smashing Pumpkins (Lollapalooza - a shitty full set)
Neil Young
Oasis (opened for Neil - fucking GREAT show)
U2
Linkin Park
Pavement
Afghan Whigs
Archers of Loaf
Hall & Oates
The Partland Brothers
Bryan Adams (I worked security at this one, Douches, I did NOT buy a ticket)
Maestro Fresh Wes
DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince
The Cranberries
Depeche Mode
Sloan (x2)
Skydiggers
Matthew Sweet
The Breeders (very small set at Lollapalooza)
Tragically Hip
Spinal Tap (!!!!)
Acts that I'd love to see:
White Stripes
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Foo Fighters
Billy Talent
Queens of the Stone Age
Pixies
Dinosaur Jr.
Nirvana

ZING!
I'll have to post mine tomorrow. I'm too tired to remember them all right now, but seeing Stone Temple Pilots twice and Velvet Revolver is all I need to remember right now.

Re: Concert Weekend
Linkin Park is still around?
I've seen:
Moody Blues
Pink Floyd (one concert, one rehearsal)
Aerosmith
Collective Soul
Candlebox
AC/DC
The Eagles
Page & Plant
Steve Miller
Doobie Brothers
Fleetwood Mac (it was a pieced together version, missing Stevie Nicks and Christie McVie)
Pat Benetar
REO Speedwagon
Blue Man Group
Rush
Garth Brooks
Beach Boys and Jethro Tull performed at the amusement park I worked at while I was in High school, so I heard them, but I didn't see them. (For the record, it was Kings Dominion, just north of Richmond, VA)
Quiet Riot came through Korea on the USO tour while I was there. They were supposed to play outside, but it was rained out. They moved it into a club on base, but it was small and I didn't feel. I also could have seen the singer from Spandau Ballet while I was in Kuwait. He performed on the British side of the base. Yeah, I skipped that too. In case you didn't realize it, the USO tour sucked while I was in. Now in the post-9/11 world, it is popular for entertainers and athletes again.

I'm going to see Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band again on St. Patty's Day Monday...I can't wait !
I don't have a ready list of all the bands I've seen live...it is lengthy.

Re: Concert Weekend
Why'd you put REO in such small letters? They're decent; if you're talking dudes who sold out completely, you can't do a whole lot better.
I've seen (and the first one I'm so not proud of it defies any explanation):
New Kids on the Block (honest to God, my mom bought tickets under the assumption all kids liked them... then made me go)
Three Dog Night
Blood, Sweat & Tears
the Beach Boys (the shitty 80s incarnation with only one Wilson brother, Carl)
the Spin Doctors
Soul Asylum
the Screaming Trees
Everything (way before they sold out and became a one hit wonder with a shitty song)
Gibb Droll (amazing underrated blues-rock guitarist)
the Reverend Billy C Wirtz (at least four times; I can't recall for sure how many)
Aerosmith (twice)
4 Non Blondes
KISS (the current incarnation, in makeup and sans Criss and Frehley)
Stevie Nicks
whoever opened for KISS and Aerosmith (Saliva? Staind? I think it was one of those nu-metal bands starting with "S")
Def Leppard
Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
Ray Charles
Willie Nelson
Kenny Wayne Shepherd (unannounced guest at the Ray/Willie concert)
Tommy Castro
John Hiatt and the Goners
Buddy Guy (probably the best performer of the bunch, which is saying a lot)
Roger Day (who appears to do kids' music now, but what I heard was definitely not)
Taryn Donath (a fucking amazing and kinda hot blues pianist... I wish I'd gotten her CD at the show since I can't find jacksquat about her online)
BB King
Probably a couple more who are slipping my mind....

Re: Concert Weekend
I had to check the web, but apparently I also saw L7 and Nick Cave & Bad Seeds at the Lollapalooza I attended. I have no recall of these - and no, mabs, it's not because of the brownies.
I do recall the George Clinton & P-Funk All-Stars portion.... and desperately wishing for it to end.
Wishlist continued:
Prince (but only after a "Greatest Hits" type release - I'd want lots of old school stuff)
The Police

Re: Concert Weekend
I've only been to two "real" concerts - Roger Waters and the Fray. Roger was insanely awesome; I went to Omaha to see him last year and have tickets to see him again in Denver next month. The Fray were pretty good; not my favorite band but they're better than 99% of the other shit on the radio today. I also saw the Hot IQs (a fairly local band with some relatively national exposure, I guess) just performing for free one day.
I always miss the good shows, or they don't come to Denver.
Rogue II, how did you see a Pink Floyd rehearsal? When was it?

Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

Not in quite some time. There was an official site that suddenly became a porno site with absolutely no mention of music.Diabolical wrote:Have you tried searching? The tracks on the myspace page aren't bad, but not nearly as good as what I heard.
