I need to get off my metaphorical ass and start a "what movies are you looking forward to" thread. Not like it takes any more effort than just posting here. :)

I saw previews for Hotel Transylvania at a few recent movies I've watched. The previews, well, they didn't thrill me. Maybe it was because they were sandwiched between Madagascar 16: Someone Send Chris Rock a Check Because He Needs the Money and Ice Age 325: The Wrath of Who Gives a Shit Anymore. Maybe it's because 99% of CG movies are just bad movies. And the studio gave us Surf's Up (one winner--and, hey, that goes for it as a Shia LeBooooof movie, because all his other movies are ass) and a bunch of turds and/or movies I just have no fucking interest in.

Then I saw three words in a headline at CBR: "Director Genndy Tartakovsky."

Now, I don't expect any CG cartoon will be a John Carter type bomb. Enough people don't care what their kids see and will take them to any shit. But this isn't smart marketing. There are a lot of adult fans of animation who simply don't care about most of the stuff Fox, Sony, and Dreamworks churn out. When they were mentioning the all-star cast in their ads, maybe they might've mentioned that the director created fucking Samurai Jack and Dexter's Lab. He was one of the main guys on Powerpuff Girls. And he beat George Lucas's ass so badly that Lucas had to make his own shitty cartoon/continuity clusterfuck to try to get people to forget he'd been topped at his own game. Hell, if you don't want to mention 'toons owned by competing companies, say his name--the people who need to hear it will know what it means.

Yeah, I want to see it now.

(I compared Lucas unfavorably to Tartakovsky and said mean things about The Clone Wars. Cuing JJL response in 3... 2... 1... :D)

Just looked up the top movies this year. http://boxofficemojo.com/yearly/chart/?yr=2012&p=.htm

If everyone thinks John Carter bombed (currently 19th place), what are they saying about Battleship, Red Tails, Abe Lincoln, Three Stooges, and Ghost Rider? I saw more advertising for all of those (except Ghost Rider) than for John Carter.

Probably because John Carter took about as much money to make and market as the rest of those films combined.

It's better when you have other people do it.

It's even better when you do it for someone else at the same time.

Wait, that didn't come across the way I meant. Shit. Seriously, guys, I meant the act of oral, not specifically a BJ. Great, I'm not going to live this down any more than JJL is going to live down admitting to autofellatio, am I?

Tee hee. Batman made almost as much at its midnight showing as Abe Lincoln has made in its entire run.
