Okay, this is mainly for EP, since I think he's the only other dude here following this series:
Who is dead meat in issue #25?
I think next issue can't possibly go down without some blood spilled on all sides. Personally, as much as I like the guy, I think maybe Flint should be offed. It would add a nice depth to Lady Jaye.
But Duke and Serpentor need to fight to the death, just like in the bad movie. With both of them dying.
Of course, figuring in both the old Marvel and this new Devil's Due series, Joe has beat Marvel's old record for resurrection:
Storm Shadow: gunned down by the Baroness just prior to the Invasion of Springfield way back when, but turned out was only in a healing trance.
Scarlett: shot in the head at pointblank range in classic #93, but miraculously survived, as revealed the following issue.
Cobra Commander: shot by Fred VII, with bullet seen coming out the other side, way back in the classic series, but popped up again when sales started sagging.
Firefly: left for dead on the landlocked freighter, but it turned out he'd bashed up Serpentor's corpse to look like his own.
Serpentor: shot in the head by master archer Zartan, his corpse was desecrated by Firefly, as mentioned above. Not quite fully explained how he lived through that.
Mindbender: poisoned on the landlocked freighter, his was one of the few corpses actually shown. Cloned in what was the worst crossover with the Transformers until this year.
SAW Viper/Skelton/Overkill: no question that the battered body left by Ninja Force was quite dead. And yet, somehow, he pulled through.
So, since death is temporary here, it doesn't matter! Next issue of Frontline: Cool Breeze leads a team consisting of Quick Kick, Doc, Breaker, Mangler, the Balloon Bear, and himself!!

They should do a mock up of the old "Shakedown" issue (the awesome stand alond dogfight issue where the Rattler takes on Ace in the Skystriker - #34 I believe) featuring Bongo in the Balloon truck and Steeler in the Mobat. Im killing myself seeing the "face to face" panel now, both characters grimacing with sweat pouring down their faces as the slow-mo game of chicken between the tank and the balloon truck gets heated up.... at an astonishing 30mph!!!!

I can't imagine sales were too hot after that fucking Abominable Snowman escapade, that was the shittiest GIJoe thing ever and made me cancel. I liked the stuff leading up to that though, the Zartana story was good and the first Hama arc was fine as well. I think they over saturated the market for this book when they went weekly after the delay. Bad idea.

I dropped it after the first story arc. My friend keeps telling me how cool it is too. I think maybe with their new GI Joe:Unloaded series they dont want all these Joe books on the racks confusing people. I wouldn't be suprised if the regular series gets retrofitted with a title like GiJoe:Classic next year.

Man, Serpentor went out like a bitch! Beaten by a crafty elderly used car salesman! I love it!!
I believe a moment of silence is in order for Mainframe, Flash, and Chuckles. Very likely Zandar as well. I assume Outback could recover from the shot he took, but just in case, let's be silent for him.
Cheer, though, for the probable death of SAW Viper--I mean Overkill. He should've stayed dead, especially since he didn't personally rack up more kills this time around.
Too bad the showdown between Serpentor and Zartan didn't happen. That would've been nice to see. A genius homicidal clone vs a color-changing ninja archer punk. But it was nice that Cobra Commander robbed the little bitch of his vengeance.
Two things there were I found very interesting, that had better be developed in the future. First, Hawk refusing a temporary truce with Destro, when they used to be allies! I guess taking over the US was a bit much for General Abernathy to forgive, even from a brainwashed dude.
Second, Zartan implies that Firefly is NOT an Arishikage Ninja! So, we possibly have an impostor who can kick ninja ass, make you think his face is invisible, lead the Night Creepers, and fool every damn Arishikage Master into thinking he's a ninja. Possibly a master of some arcane Vietnamese fighting art (that is where he was born, after all, IIRC). If Zartan's right, I want more details! This could make him even nastier than The Faceless Master!
I don't like to see my boy hurt, but it was sorta nice to see something big go down without Snake Eyes' involvement.
One major league disappointment: didn't Cobra knock out power and communications, then just walk in and take over governments 21 issues back? Come on. Get a new idea!

Anything new on the Joe Front?
I dropped Reloaded after 2 issues when I realized "realistic" meant "boring"
And I haven't read the regular series for over a year. I just picked up some cheap back issues from after I stopped around issue 28 but I coouldn't get into them. I heard they are ending the current series with issue 43. The last two issues will be double sized and then they are restarting the series over (again) with a brand new issue 1. After Dreamwave unceremoniously stopped publishing TF in mid story and now this, the 80's renaissance, which got me recollecting after nearly a decade, is officially over.

Apparently there's a new story arc where Baroness gets killed, Cobra and Joe are both trounced by a third group (which has, of course, been operating in the background, unnoticed, for years), and then the series will change to something like GIJoe: America's Finest, with a new team focused on eliminating the Red Shadow. Sadly, this is not an April Fool's joke. I think I may be dropping the line. Nothing after #18 is canon in my book, anyway.

Okay, the Real American Hero series ended on a sucktastic note.
I was going to give America's Elite one issue to turn things around. But as things worked out, two issues (#0 and #1) had come out since my last trip to the comic shop. The owner's a really cool guy who holds stuff for me all the time, and I'm one of a small number of folks who's been requesting GIJoe, and he's got a small profit margin, yadda yadda, so I bought them both. I'm rather glad two issues came out.
#0: Quite meh, but worth picking up only because it leads into. . .
#1: Holy shit! I've not been this excited about the Joes since the SAW Viper popped caps in Doc's head!
A very small core team, with actual focus on character development.
A very, very serious threat that the team suspect might be stragglers from Cobra, but no one knows for sure.
The Red Shadows appear to be no more. (Serious rejoicing here. They sucked.)
Long-lost Cobra operatives paying the price for their wacky eco-warfare and such. (Guess which former Toxo-Viper commander who looks just like Cable is dying of cancer from exposure to insanely high levels of toxic waste.)
Destro back to being the civilized, honorable psycho terrorist.
Storm Shadow on the side of the angels again, but not being trusted since he switched sides and was brainwashed about every other month for decades.
The Baroness: alive and well, and only two people know. . . and poor James isn't one of them. (And a great reference to her "killing" Storm Shadow way back when.)
Roadblock back in the kitchen!!
A truly grown-up tone. Not the earlier Devil's Due "continuation of the Marvel series, but with higher technology and body counts, and less character development."
The only really lousy thing is the fucking death of Lady Jaye. That's sacrilege. Goddammit. You don't fucking kill Lady Jaye. And turning Flint into a nutjob bent on revenge is no better.
I must recommend this series. It's like the tone of Reloaded, but with the real versions of the characters.
At Comic Con, I think I'm going to give Josh Blaylock a serious ballkick and say, "That's for Lady Jaye, you fuckhead." Then I'm going to shake his hand and say, "But America's Elite kicks Liefeld's nuts like a schoolgirl. If your people can keep up this level of quality, and if the Snake Eyes series doesn't blow, you'll almost make up for killing her, and for that Red Shadows horseshit."

Up to issue 4 already and its lookin' good. I'm not sure about Shipwreck being on the team other than from purely a fan fave angle. How often are they gonna be in sea battles? And then couldn't they just contact him then? I think there were more qualified Joes to be "Core" members than him, like Beachhead. Beachhead is MEAN. And that's icy cool.
And can we have more Snake-Eyes please? Why don't they give us fans what we want? Speaking of Snakes, who's reading Declassified? Are we to believe Snakes inadvertently started COBRA with the Commander? Was that inferred in the old Larry Hama continuity? Sorry, Jerwa, buts that just a little TOO coincidental for me.
