What have you watched lately?

movies are cool. here is a place to talk about how cool they are. or maybe how much they suck, sometimes. like that fucking piece of shit 'mac and me'. worst fucking movie ever, a two-hour ad for fucking coca-cola.

Clerks III. Not what I expected, and now I'm kind of depressed.

There were 3 TMNT movies in the 90s? I haven't seen the original since it first came out on VHS. I don't remember seeing the 2nd, but somehow I remember the late 20th Century poet/philosopher Robert Van Winkle being part of the film.

Fuck Clerks 3.

Kevin Smith Rian Johnson'ed that movie.
It retroactively ruins Clerks 2 for me.

I might have to do a binge watch of all 3. I can barely remember clerks let alone part 2. I do, however, remember Rosario Dawson & the conversation about going ass to mouth. <3

I can probably recite most/all of Clerks. It's one of my most rewatchable movies.

Clerks 2 was pretty good and it was fun to pick up with the characters 10-12 years later, and a couple of great new characters.

Clerks 3 is a slap in the face of Clerks 2 and a shame upon itself.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice - I think they did just about everything right. They did ok tap dancing around Jeffrey Jones not being in the movie. The only thing I found kind of annoying was that the musical numbers felt forced and went on a bit long. Oh, I was a bit surprised they had Michael Keaton break the 4th wall a bit.

Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull was on tv, so I thought I'd finally watch it. It was more over the top and didn't really fit in with the other movies. I fell asleep during what I assume was the final battle in the temple.

Interstellar again. I love it. It has entered into the small group of films I feel compelled to watch about once a year, along with Heat & part of the original trilogy. Blade Runner used to be in there, but I haven't had any real drive to watch it for the last few years. I need to make a point of trying to get through Lord of the Rings again sometime soon as well.

Interstellar fun fact; the actor who does the voice of TARS also played Mr. Noodle in the Elmo segments on Sesame Street(not to be confused with the actor who played Mr Noodle’s brother Mr. Noodle), and was the dad of Cindy Lou Who in Jim Carrey’s Grinch movie. He also played the infamous Dollhouse Killer across several seasons of CSI.

That is interesting! Part of me wants a part 2 that's just a 45 min adult film with Coop bending over Dr. Brand and enjoying some time with her. I love Anne with the short dark hair.

Despicable Me 4: Not my choice. But I figured I'd list it. It wasn't as good as the first two, which are actually pretty enjoyable, but not nearly as shit as the Minions movies. Several subplots fizzle into nothing, including a complete waste of the great Stephen Colbert. But it was free, and I didn't want to gouge my eyes out.

Ghosts: Yeah, it's a TV show, not a movie. And I'm not done yet. Fuck you. It's pretty absurd shit, which is how I like it. Basically this boring couple inherits an old mansion and decide to turn it into a B&B, and the wife has a near-death experience that allows her to see and hear the thousand years worth of eccentric spirits haunting the place. Hilarity ensues.

I thought it was mostly dull. They were trying to do weird stuff for the sake of being weird, like the foreign subtitles on the flashback sequence. The movie didn’t really get going until Astrid got kidnapped, and by then the movie was almost over. Some of dead people in the afterlife were clever, and the one ‘F-bomb’ was used to perfection. It looked like Willem Dafoe was having a fun time in his role. I thought the way they kept shoving photos of Jeffery Jones into the movie every 5-10 minutes was hilarious. But mostly it’s forgettable in the way the first movie is classically rewatchable.

Aren't all Tim Burton movies weird for the sake of being weird?

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. A local theater was having a special showing for Batman Day. I've bought it on every subsequent upgraded home video, and can pretty much quote the whole film, but a chance to take one (unfortunately not both) of my kids to see it on the big screen? Hell yes.

This film is still just absolutely fucking perfect. Anyone who doesn't see Batman comics and hear Conroy and Hamill needs to be locked up so they're not a danger to the rest of us.

That "We'll have our money, or I'll have your heart in my hand" line always gets me. I know it's coming, but, fuck, that is some hardcore shit, and Abe Vigoda fucking sells it. Young(er) Sal Valestra is one of the sleeper candidates for Scariest Fucking Film Villain.

Hundreds of Beavers.

I'm not entirely sure what I just watched, but it was one of the funniest, most absolutely bizarre films I've ever seen. It was like a modern day live action Looney Toons cartoon on acid. Fucking glorious. Watch it or you're Snigtad's ass pimple.
