He probably sells them at 50% because that's his cost on them. So he's not making money, but he's not losing it either. And he made the profit on the issues he sold at full price. A little profit anyway.
I was a tad disappointed this year, because that first store usually has a better spread of recent stuff in their discount bins.

Re: Big score........
It's the six issue mini by Zeb Wells and Skottie Young. From just before Civil War where the NWs are on a reality show. I know the premise sounds dippy, but I was surprised and happy when I read the other issues. Its a hilarious book. It's too bad Mark Millar hates fun things and makes them die to match his soul.
I finished the original NW series long ago. Mostly because I bought a majority of the series as it was coming out.

The Kirby or the Windsor-Smith series?RoIIo Tomassi wrote:Machine Man 1,2,4 and X-51 1.
Also, X-51 is kinda meh. Not bad, but not memorable, and they've obviously retconned the whole "He's now half-Sentinel and goes berserk when he sees mutants, and he just happens to run into the X-Men weekly" shtick.

Heh. I'm not lucky enough to find vintage 70s Kirby in cheap boxes like that. It's the 1984 mini series by DeFalco and Windsor-Smith. I have most of the X-51 series. I'm missing 11 and 12 and the 0 issue. I also need to find the 3rd and 4th issues of MachineMan2020.

Re: Big score........
I remember finding quite a few of the Kirby MM series for a quarter apiece at used bookstores (and they were only that much because the stores put a minimum price of a quarter), right alongside the Rom: Spaceknight. Then again, this was before Nextwave, so maybe those are more in-demand now.
I'm glad the character finally found some love. He's always been a favorite of mine. I wouldn't mind seeing a movie based on him, and I'm not even kidding. His quest for humanity could make an awesome, nontraditional superhero movie. Hell, let him wind up on the Avengers.

Re: Big score........
Ever since NextWave, Aaron Stack has been in that 'permanent guest star' phase where he's not strong enough to carry a book, but he's sidekickin' it in other C-list heroes' ongoings. First he was on Ms. Marvel's "team" in her book. Then he was in Red Hulk's book. Now he's with Red She Hulk. She just got cancelled, so I'm sure he'll be off to another supporting cast assignment soon. Perhaps he'll pop up in Avengers A.I.

Re: Big score........
44 issues of FF on the way from mycomicshop.com, which will complete my run from the end of volume 1 through the end of volume 3 - err I mean the continuation of volume 1 (right?) at 611. The death of Johnny issues pushed my price per book over the $2 mark, including shipping, which I usually like to stay under but it was worth it in this case to get it all done at once.

Do you also have the 22 issues of FF? Which are basically all the .5 issues of FanFour?
Shame on you for not getting Hickman's Run the first time out.
How far back does your run go now?

Re: Big score........
I don't have much of the original volume 1, so like 414 to present. I have a full run of FF, I had picked it up again by that point. The older, MK4 ongoing I don't have a complete run of however, so that might really bugger up my read/re-read (re-Reed?) plans if I decide to start back with Heroes Reborn like I want to. So much to read. ><

Re: Big score........
The MK4 series isn't very "continuity dependent". Other than a few very broad references to whatever was "current" in the main F4 title and larger Marvel Universe, it's a fairly stand alone series.
Roberto Aguirre-Sarcosa was the writer they hired to replace Waid and Ringo during that falling out between Waid and Quesada. Fans threw a hissy, and Waid ended up staying as the main book's writer So they gave R A-S his own book. I'm sure if his run had been in the main book as originally intended, it would be much more highly regarded compared to other writers' FF runs. It's worth checking out. But nothing in it is missed if you're only reading the main series. I believe the main thing that trickled into other stories in later issues was Roberto had the FF go bankrupt and JMS followed up on that when he took over the main F4 title, and Dan Slott also with his short 8 issue Thing ongoing.

Re: Big score........
So I'm a hair better than I thought. The FF books got here today & I'm solid from the end of the last volume (pre-NAO) all the way back to needing 400 & 401. I need 398 as well and that would have me back to a run from 385.

Re: Big score........
Another not a "Big" Score (well, not big for me anyway. Might be a massive haul for some of you). Only about 50 books. I was out in CA the last couple days for a friend's wedding and a different buddy hooked me up with some sweet comics and toys.
First off, a bunch of freebies from SDCC'13. The highlight being this years Atomic Robo FCBD issue I was missing. Yes! Two copies even!
Then a few AVsX tie in issues I already had.
The first couple of A+X issues which I already had.
Bendis' ENTIRE Moon Knight series from 2011. Yes! I am now only 3 issues away from having EVERY Moon Knight book ever.
Talon 1-8. From the New52. Apparently he's some replacement Batman or some shit. I dunno. It was free.
And a good chunk of GIJoe:Origins. Of which I already had, but the highlight was the RI Virgin cover of issue 8 with SnakeEyes hanging upside down with two Uzis. Pretty cool.
In the toy dept, I got the SDCC exclusive Thunderbolts set with Modern Luke Cage, Moonstone, Ghost, Satana and Crossbones.
Also the subscription only DC figures Wally West, Metron, Ralph Dibny, and Fire.

Re: Big score........
It's The Quad Cities Fun-Con 2013! I scored a bunch of sweet books from different dealers. This is different from the usual dealer show I hit up 3-4 times a year(the next one of those is on Oct 6th)
This had artists and writers and small press booths, the local rock radio station was broadcasting live, and there were tons of cosplayers. Nummy.
I hit up several tables with varying cheapness of their books. I'll list each haul separately.
The First Table had 5 books for a buck. I got 70 issues for a mere $14. I got
Dark Avengers 181-183. I need issue 176 for a full run.
First issue of Aztek:The Ultimate Man.
LotDK 10 issues, mostly between 108 and 125. About 40 to go.
SotBat 77,80,89,91. Only 10 issues to go.
BM GothamKnights. Six issues. Also only need 10 more issues.
Batman inc. 7. FINISHED the first run. Still need the Nu52 series.
Batman Odyssey 2-5,7. FINISHED the second series. And thus finished the entire series.
Batman Hollywood Knight 1-3. The whole miniseries.
LotDK 1. From the Nu52 Digital first series.
Black Knight Exodus oneshot.
Dark Devil 1.
DC Presents Mystery in Space.
Deathstroke 18-20. The Nu52 series. There were TONS of other Nu52 books. I skipped em.
Defenders 4-7 9-11. FINISHED Fraction's 2010 series!
Inhumans 9-12. Need 3-8 from the 2003 series.
Iron Man Annual 2000.
Man-Thing 1,2 from 2004.
Planetary 18-20
Rawhide Kid 3,4. Finished this 2010 mini.
Some Sensational SheHulk issues.
Spider-Man Unlimited 2. From the 3rd series. Only 2 more to go.
Spidey 2099 40.
StarBrand 19. The last issue of the series.
X-Men vs Dracula.
The Second Table was the highlight of the day. 50 cents per book. I picked up 53 issues for $25. I may weep. Here's what I got.
Batman:Scar of the Bat Elseworlds oneshot.
Bloodstone 3.
Dr. Strange vs Dracula oneshot.
Daredevil 151, 152, 154, 156, 157, 161, 164-173, 188, 189. Yes, those are mostly Frank Miller books. I got them for Fifty. Cents. EACH. I'm so happy right now, but there's frosting further down the list.
Infinity Inc 14, 15. Todd McFarlane's first two issues.
Moon Knight 25. From the '80 series. FINISHED!!! And only 2 more MK issues from every single series.
Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man 2-13, 21, 23, 25, 27-29, 40, 41, 47, 51, 63, 87. Again. Fifty. Cents. EACH. I'm only 20 issues away from a full run.
Spidey 2099 27-32.
Web(!mpact) 14. Also thought I was missing the Annual and got it, but it was the Jaguar Annual I need whoops.
After I left there, I saw an acquaintance of mine who had set up a table and he went to the same guy and got a bunch of PowerMan/Iron Fist and Master of Kung Fu and Tomb of Dracula issues.
