You guys seen the more extensive version of the Justice League cover, the one where Batman appears to have some sort of movie-esque armor and Cyborg looks like Rob Liefeld farted on a cover?

Check out Hal. Now check out Hal's Gatling gun.

Phallic much?

I figured Babs was gonna be Batgirl. Fuck, Batgirl is no shit one of my top three DC books right now. I was really enjoying Steph's adventures just because the writer Bryan Q. Miller was kinda just saying whatthefuckever to Morrison's grand design and doing his own thing. And now that'll be gone too. This whole thing is enough to give a guy tourettes.

Didja notice Hal doesn't have a ring on his finger? NICE JOB, Jim!!

I was too busy being shocked by his Gatling cock.

Babs debuted in 1966, right? And The Killing Joke was 1988. That's 22 years. She wasn't Batgirl up until TKJ, but I don't know when she retired. Let's say she was Batgirl for 20 years, because I think it was not too long before. And she was crippled in TKJ, and it's 2011. Hmm, divide by zero, figure the hypotenuse, carry the one... She's been crippled for 23 years! So even if she was Batgirl the entire time, she's been in a wheelchair longer than she was Batgirl!

Anyone know if there are plans to collect the Retro-Active titles in paperback?

I know they're not connected, but it would sorta make sense. I'd rather have a lot of the new stories without the old ones. For Grant/Breyfogle, I want both versions, but I dunno that I need to drop $5 each on the others.

My Flashpoint comics arrived last night. Of the 17 tiein minis, six series only had the first issue, six of them had the first and second issue, and four of them had the entire three issues. Disnt have any of the Wonder Woman mini.

Anyway, I read the main book in one sitting...and was thoroughly bored. After being subjected to months and months of hype, some of the plot points in this were just dumb. Barry Allen electrocutes himself not once, but TWICE trying to recreate his Flash powers. Yeah. The first time he gets third degree burns on 75% of his body. So what does he do? Electrocutes himself again. The Batman thing was kinda cool, but since I knew about it because of the Internet, the reveal was muted. The rest of the series was just decompressed and supposed "spotlights" on characters like Cyborg are just glorified cameos.

But after that, I read the Batman:Knight of Vengeance mini. Holy crap, THAT was good. The reveal at the end of the second issue dropped my jaw. It's from the 100 Bullets team of Azarello and Risso. Definitely check it out.

Fuck me, that dialogue is insanely bad and insanely sexist. And, as a result, insanely funny.

As you know, I'm making dent in my 12+ long boxes of unread back issues. Today I read the Tangent Comics from 1997. Dan Jurgens took the names, and names only, of a bunch of DC characters like The Atom, Flash, Green Lantern, Joker, Metal Men, etc and crafted an entirely new Universe where the Cuban Missile Crisis blew up Florida, and Vietnam was actually fought in Czhekoslovakia. This was quite an entertaining read, with each of the 9 oneshots tying into the history of all the rest. I haven't read the follow up series from 1998, but these were pretty fun reads.

Knight and Squire. A six issue mini from 2011 by Paul Cornell follows the English Batman and Robin. Very cheeky. Very tongue in cheek. Very British. I had bought the first issue when it came out, but not the rest. It's a fun read, if you ever get the chance.

I'm assuming at some point that Damage got abused to death by the Plaid Lantern Corps, because that book was awesome back in the day and Didio proved long ago that he hated everything awesome.

Yes, I believe Grant was killed during Blackest Night, and his funeral was in the pages of JSA All Stars.
Of course, in the DCnU, he might be alive. Or might never have existed at all. Nobody knows. Including Especially the DC brass.

In 2011, Nick Spencer and Cafu revived the old T.H.U.N.D.E.R Agents series from the 60s(it also had a couple short lived revivals in the 80s according to comicbookdb) that only lasted 10 issues before the Reboot. And I'm not even sure if this book took place in the actual DCU continuity. Now, of the 10 issues, I only have 1,5, and 6. But those three issues were excellent, and I highly recommend tracking this book down in Trade or floppies.
I see DC is doing a follow up mini this year, and if the same creative team is on board, I might actually break down and buy some more DC.

Not really DCU, but I don't want to start a new thread.

Whaddya think of this?

Isn't Robinson the dude who wrote a supposedly stellar run on Starman (haven't read it yet) and everything else he's done has made Liefeld look like Shakespeare?

Robinson is an overrated doucheplug. I'd be more excited to find a wet napkin smelling faintly of fart in my sandwich.

I'm not starting a new Topic for this, and since the Legion of SuperHeroes is the primary offender, it goes in the DC topic.

Why do time travelers from the future always travel back to the past in chronological relativity to their previous time jaunts? It's like if the LOSH travels from 3012 to 2012, then they travel back six months from now, they'll show up six months from now in the past. Why do you never see the Legion show up and it's only like their third time travel ever? And they have no idea who anybody is? And the next time they travel it's like ten years in current continuity's future. But that's not what happens. It's always like "Oh hey, Legion, we haven't seen you guys in two weeks. How long has it been for you?"
"oh two weeks for us as well"

I mean, that kind of repeated coincidence is absurdly uninspired story telling and doesn't take advantage of the idea of time travel at all. Don't you think?
