Given my feelings on the US right now, this seems like the most appropriate day to say happy Independence Day if you celebrate.

In addition to not being excited to celebrate our frustratingly preventable decline into full fascism, I plan to spend the day trying to convince my mother, who is chronically depressed, has never gotten over the death of my father or her own (10+ years before I was born), has Alzheimer's and can only consistently remember death anniversaries, that this is not indeed the anniversary of my father's passing.

Fourth of July has kinda sucked since she had to move in with us.
