Spider-Man 4 is dead; Reboot to follow.

movies are cool. here is a place to talk about how cool they are. or maybe how much they suck, sometimes. like that fucking piece of shit 'mac and me'. worst fucking movie ever, a two-hour ad for fucking coca-cola.

So I'm an hour into No Way home at this point, and it's actually pretty painful. This is a Venom quality movie in terms of effects, not what I'm used to seeing from the MCU. Dr Strange's hair & makeup look terrible. Taking a short break from it to make sure it's not just me.

I'll stick with my initial assessment. It finished better than it started, but still by far the weakest of this Spider-trilogy. The "messy on purpose", Ragnarok style direction didn't work for me, it was almost like watching a Will Ferrell movie. Only Electro seemed to make use of any "upgraded graphics" - Lizard, Sandman, Ock & Green Goblin all looked exactly like they'd been photoshopped in from their own movies.

Saw Across the Spider-Verse tonight. Took me about three minutes to decide it’s Best Animated Pic winner next year.

Every major character has their own animation style. 2099 was great, Spider-Man India was great, but Hobie/Spider-Punk was amazing. And the Spot’s design with his blue pencil lines left in his animation. Every dimension had it’s own distinct color palette. I loved how Gwen’s universe referenced the watercolor vibe from her original comic covers. Fucking brilliant. Even the twist was set up by the distinctness if you were paying attention.
And the cameos/easter eggs. I could literally not keep up with them because I’d be looking at the left side of the screen and be missing references on the right side.

The first Spider-Verse movie gets better with each subsequent viewing, but this takes it to a whole other level. Can’t wait for the third movie.

Kraven the Hunter. Looks better than Morbius at least.

The movie that answers the question “Should we make this movie?” with a resounding “….I guess??!”

The entire time I was watching it, I was like ‘why does this exist?’ Sony must like losing money on their Spidey IPs.

The (mediocre) hits just keep on coming from Sony.

The first Venom was ok. I lost interest in the sequel. Not sure what to make of this one, but was that the guy from Firefly apparently playing the same character where he hunts the "hero"?

And Sony wants this to be somehow tied to the MCU (yet still not tied to it), and they cast the guy that played Baron Mordo, but he's not Baron Mordo.

One of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in a movie is in Spider-Man:No Way Home. Dr Strange tells the kids they can work down in the Undercoft of the Sanctum Sanctorum. They go down there and Ned reverently whispers ‘the undercroft…’ and then the dryer buzzes. That tiny sound element added at the end fucking cracks me up every single time.
