Re: Alton Brown is God
I've lately been finding some on clearance at Ross for $3 each. Any idea if the Target ones are new? I'd like to get the second set of 27, but, damn, they're pricey. I was only able to afford the first batch because they put them on clearance when they switched companies.
(I of course found this out afterwards, after finally getting ahold of someone who explained the situation and fixed the billing error I referred to earlier in this thread. Once I got someone who could help me, it was immediately resolved. Trouble is, with the switch, no one knew who exactly that was for a few days.)

Re: Alton Brown is God
Considering this thread was successfully bumped, I'll bring up "Feasting on Waves". I am not nearly as excited about it as I was the first two seasons simply because he is staying in one little portion of the world and visiting what I'm assuming will be a bunch of port towns. I can't imagine there will be a huge diversity in the food found there like he was "after" on the two installments of "Feasting on Asphalt". Traveling Route 66, you're crossing an entire country and finding food indigenous to specific regions and such. Traveling the ports of the Caribbean would lead me to believe that there'll be a lot of jerk spices and fish.
Not good eats.

The box looked like these:
http://www.amazon.com/Good-Eats-Alton-B ... 166&sr=1-6
http://www.amazon.com/Hooked-Cooked-Pou ... PHARFGSNFN
Can't tell you exactly what the name of the DVD was, but they were yellow boxes with "3-Disc Set" across the top.

Re: Alton Brown is God
I saw 'em the other day. They look like "Best Of" DVDs; I have about half the stuff on them, but not in the order shown, and I bet the other half is on the second massive set of DVDs.
I tried out the chocolate chiffon cupcakes and chocolate butter cream frosting from the show for Anarky Jr's second birthday party this weekend. My God. I never thought I'd be able to bake anything remotely edible, but these were the best fucking cakes I've ever had that weren't purchased from a high-end bakery (like our wedding cake, which was the shiznit). The more stuff I try, the less I feel like I'm ever buying anything from a box ever again.

Re: Alton Brown is God
My wife has been watching his show a lot lately. She recorded the one about steak/beef. This week she followed his directions for making steak fajitas. She put the beef right on the coals of the grill for a few minutes then wrapped it in foil. I think she sliced the meat the wrong way (with the grain instead of across it), but other than that it came out pretty darn good.

What does The Legend of Zelda have to do with Alton Brown?
"No Tom Foolery today, Ron. I'm tired of looking at your dreadful, speckled mug."
"Why do you hurt me in this way, Harry?"
”It’s a grid system motherfucker. Eleven up and one over, you simple bitch.”
