I went to a construction manager's association meeting back in May. One of the main speakers was the vice president in charge of new facilities for General Motors. Basically he said he needed prices for construction projects in the U.S. to come down if he was to build new factories in North America instead of China. So if he could build a plan in here for 150% of what it costs to build it in Asia, he would do it, otherwise, he's building it overseas. We're talking $1 billion car factories, so that extra $500 million would go to the transportation of the new vehicles, etc. The workforce is probably a lot cheaper too, not to mention less safety standards needed in the factories themselves. I thought the guy was a prick, but what do I know. You could imagine what kind of money the toy companies are making by having their factories over there.

luckily most of my daughters toys aren't anywhere near the recall lists. most of the stuff we get her is hand-made wooden toys and things like that. the only plastic things she has are the big items like the saucer thing (the thing that replaced walkers) and the bouncy chair thing.

of course, we'll just wait and see what those things have on them...
Life is short. STUNT IT!
