Ahh...it's like slipping on a comfortable pair of shoes.

Henceforth, once again, let the speculation commence on which film will win the Box Office Battle of 2014. As always, we're talking about which film will yank the most scratch, not which film is the most artistic or brilliant or whatever. Cha-Ching. Not aesthetics.

And animated movies, once again, aren't on the list. Otherwise The Lego Movie would win hands down. Seriously, that movie is gonna make ALL the money. And it's Summer movies. Or Hunger Games would probably be on there as well.

I hate to say it, but I think TF4 is gonna win this year. But how fucking cool is it to think that Marvel will potentially have THREE films in theatres simultaneously? Provided that Cap2 has the legs to make it to the end of May for X-Men's debut. So you can walk into your multiplex and see Cap next to Spidey next to the X-Men. That's crazy.

Anyway, the rest of the field is wide open this year. We could have some awesome surprises or Battleship sized disasters on the rest of these. I'm personally rooting for Guardians to become the next Star Wars. I cut Edge of Tomorrow, Maleficent, and Jupiter Ascending from the list because it limits to 10. But those three have just as much potential as the rest to either hit or misfire big.

Tough call, but I think X-Men has the best chance to take it. So far the only bad looking part of the film is the design of Quicksilver.

Picked X-Men for the $$$, but my weenie is harder for Cap.

Of the years we've been doing this, I think this year is the toughest to call. I'm going with Spiderman. Transformers and Captain America will probably be up there. Maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't seem like people go as crazy for the X-Men films as the other superhero movies.

I'd like to go with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, but that would require the world to collectively improve their taste.

Had I not just recently seen the "first" one, I might have even left that off the list in favor of something else. I think it will be good, but nowhere near enough to be king of the hill.

Spidey and Cap are both solid choices. Cap is riding Avengers and IM3 coattails as well as looking wicked tits awesome. Spidey has an awesome trailer going for it.
I think X3 and Wolverine Origins left a bad taste in people's mouths and they didn't give First Class a chance to see the franchise get righted.
TF4 is a tough call. I'm basically going by the juggernaut of the first three films. But it seems to have quietly snuck up this year.

Also, Godzilla might surprise everyone and be great. It's got Walter White in it.

I will admit, as sad as I am to see that Michael Bay is going to abuse the names of Grimlock and Galvatron, there's a very good chance their popularity in one of these movies could sort of "spill over" like Bumblebee did, resulting in a lot more toys based on various other versions of Grimlock and Galvatron (particularly the G1 and IDW versions).

True. 300 had everyone going around yelling "This is Sparta!" and then waited 8 years to make a crappy looking sequel.

Last night there was a commercial for Pompeii, which looked pretty much like Hercules and 300.

Damn. I'd kill for a revival of ancient world movies that don't look like 300. With Gladiator and Troy, I thought we might be in for that. Guess it's 50-year-old movies for me in that department.

I'd personally LOVE for there to be a WWI movie that has the "realness" feel of Saving Private Ryan. I know that the real life colors were just as vivid as now but having only seen washed out color footage made the movie that much more real.

if there was such a thing as live-action transformers movies, it would probably be the top slot yet again. good thing no one ever made any movies based on transformers. there's that one franchise that's similar... transmogrifiers or something... that's inexplicably made a boatload of money.
