Tablets - when is the right time?

Anyone taken the plunge? Seems like Apple is really playing hardball with their precious market share - they've basically had Samsung's galaxy blocked for sale in a few places around the world... but the iPad 2 is worth more than I paid for my kids. The Kindle Fire looks really interesting - I had a look after Chux was going on about getting Kindles in the other thread.
I guess my question is this: is the time ever going to be right to get one of these as more than just a curiosity... and if so, are we at that point yet?

My blackberry phone died a few weeks ago (it had a good 4 year run) and I ended up getting an iphone. I was a little hesitant of the touchscreen technology (especially typing with my great clumsy mitts) but I've had little issues with it. Considering the iPad is just a larger iPhone, I might try one. But I'm not clear, can you use CD-Roms and DVDs and such with it? I didn't think it had a tray on/in it.

Like I said, if not for us getting the last Kindle last year, I would totally jump on the Kindle Fire. I'm not a fan of touchscreen anything, so I'm not down with most of the later the i-stuff.
Rollo, I don't believe it has anything but a USB port (or something similar). And it doesn't run Flash, because the late Steve Jobs thought it was a fad. No shit.

I keep seeing those ads for the new iPhone 4S with the 'Suri' program. And I keep thinking how it would respond to morally questionable inquiries.
"I just accidentally killed a hobo. What are my options?"
"Where can I find a hooker for under $50?"
"I just killed another hobo. This one on purpose."
"What's the best way to get my 19 year old receptionist in the sack?"

Heard this on the radio, and had a friend at work try them out. If you ask the new iPhone, these questions, it will give you answers.
Q: "I'm horny"
A: searches for escort services in your area.
Q: "I need to hide a body"
A: lists swamps, foundries, and quarries in your area.
Q: "I need to find a child to kidnap"
A: "There are several family friendly restaurants in your area"

Q: I've got a lot of money I want to throw away. Where's a dumpster?
A: The new iPhone will be available in two weeks. Get in line now, sucker!!

I worked with a guy who didn't want a Touchscreen because he was afraid of leaving his fingerprints everywhere. Later we found out he was a pedophile. So now I just assume people that rail against Touchscreen technology are all filthy pedos.
FYI we fired that guy when we found out. He went on to become a Lobbyist in DC. What the fuck was his name? Grover something. Eh. It'll come to me.

My late Christmas present from Mom arrived on Monday, and holy shit, she got me a Kindle Fire.
So unexpected.
So far, I really like it.
The touch screen is pretty accurate and easy to use.
Battery life ain't bad. Seems to be approx. 7-8 hours.
There are a ton of free apps to download (approx 90% look shitty), but I've found a few good/fun ones.
A bunch of free books also, mostly good classics.
Facebook app has a few overlookable downsides.
I can't stop playing Angry Birds...those fucking little bastards.
Plenty of other games too (with mixed results).
The ability to watch my Netflix is a great bonus.
Pandora radio is sweet.
ESPN will come in handy if they never make an NHL app.
There is a comics app that I haven't tried yet, and I won't unless they have some free ones on there.
I found a Wifi detector that could come in handy, which shows you the strongest signal.
The web browsing is far better and faster than this piece of shit computer I'm using now (except for the ability to type faster).
And trying to find a case/cover for this thing is fucking ridamndiculous. The cheapest i found was $20 and it looked like it came from the dollar store. Most are $30-45 range. Fucking retarded.

I recall that being the case with the previous Kindles as well. Mrs A wound up knitting a slipcover for hers that actually looks pretty cool, but I doubt is your style.
I have never played Angry Birds. Aside from the pictures of the characters, I know nothing about it. From what I hear, it's addictive enough that I need to keep things that way for my health.

You launch various little birds via slingshot at these green pigs who are usually hiding underneath a structure of some kind.
Very simple. very addictive.
I had played Angry Birds before. Kinda.
It was a game very similar to it, but with castles and catapults.

Is that Castle Crashers you're talking about? Or am I thinking of a different game?
Also, I mentioned this before, but I got through over a dozen levels of Angry Birds before I realized you could hit the birds AFTER you launch them to do various more damage. So, seriously, go back and try to do a level without hitting the birds after launch and tell me my I have mad fucking AB skills yo.

Yeah, it was Castle Crushers. You're probably the one who pointed it out to me.
I didn't realize you could hit the birds either until I hit the screen accidentally. It was only after 2 or 3 attempts, so kudos for going a dozen levels.

Another cool thing about my Fire - it makes it really easy to post while pooping.

The right time to fuck on a table is whenever the moment is right and the bed is too far away. Sometimes that mother just needs a stiff one in them right away.
Oh. Tablets, not table. My bad. Tablets are nice because when your mothers send me nude pictures of themselves, I can zoom right in on their titties. OYES!

Because its tangentially related and not worth starting a new topic.
Samsung owes Apple A BILLION DOLLARS.

Tee hee.
