A Top Gun sequel is reportedly in the works and Tom Cruise is said to have agreed play fighter pilot Pete "Maverick" Mitchell. The Top Gun Sequel project would likely include producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Tony Scott, who collaborated on the original film.
The 1986 movie helped turn Cruise into an international sex symbol. There has been no official word on a target release date for the Top Gun Sequel.
The announcement of the sequel coincides with the end of the U.S. military's "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy.
