first off, shouldn't it be 'the people v. george lucas'? i guess not enough people know that distinction. anyway, interesting article at wired.com, plus a trailer:

There’s a fine line between love and hate, and some Star Wars fanatics have crossed that flimsy divide with blasters a-blazin’ when it comes to George Lucas, the visionary filmmaker who dreamed up the franchise.
The upcoming movie The People vs. George Lucas gives disgruntled Star Wars fans a chance to vent their frustrations about the direction the franchise has taken over the years. Thousands of fans submitted video clips for the crowdsourced film, which will have its world premiere this March at the South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival in Austin, Texas.
“We’ve taken great care to show respect for a filmmaker who continues to inspire generations, and who has certainly inspired us to make this film,” The People vs. George Lucas writer and director Alexandre O. Philippe told Wired.com in an e-mail interview after the announcement. “It’s really hard to imagine what our pop-culture landscape would look like without Star Wars. So our film is a love letter of sorts, but it’s a rather twisted one, as we’re looking at George through the prism of his fans.”
The fan-fueled filmmaking process, enabled by the internet and easy access to video-editing technology, made it possible for Phillippe and his crew to connect with legions of fanboys and fangirls around the world, then stitch together a crazy-quilt indictment of Lucas’ handling of the Star Wars legacy.

Some guy from the production posted about it at the other site and the response wasn't exactly warm. I think most of us are tired rehashing this shit over and over, as nobody's mind is going to change at this point.

A film made up of a bunch of clips about Star Wars fans bitching about the movies? Sounds sad. Sure, the prequels suck, but I'm not going to make a movie about it.

I posted my thoughts about this on the other site...won't bother to re-post it here as it doesn't matter, since I basically said what RB, JJL, and Ran said (well, part of what Ran said
).
Funny thing is, I loved the prequels when they came out...and now, 5 years after ROTS, I honestly think I like them even more. I don't watch them often (I do watch Clone Wars though) but when I think back on them, I remember them fondly.
Right now I've been blowing through marathon sessions of The Office season by season, just cuz it's my favorite show, and I've also been catching up on some burned discs from Netflix but I'm getting the itch to watch AOTC and ROTS again soon (we watched TPM in May '09 for the 10th anniversary and I enjoyed it).

Whenever I watch the prequel trilogy, I cringe. I wish to hell Lucas had invested in a director. At least let somebody coax good performaces out of your actors and then you can diddle as much as you wanted in the editing room with the footage they gave you. Fuck, they could have gone Kubrick style and done 100 takes in different ways to give you a choice. But at least they would have been believable.
As far as the people v. G.Lu. The best revenge would be to come up with your own Sci-Fi fantasy world and sell it to a major studio. Quit bitching about his shit and make up your own!
At least at some point, Star Wars becomes public domain.
