I never thought I'd see this day

This summer, there will be a Wolverine movie, a Transformers movie, and a GIJoe movie. I have no interest in any of them.
It feels really, really strange to know that three of my all-time favorites will be on the big screen around the same time, and I really just don't want to see them.

Don't take it too hard. Blame it on the hollywood machine.

Wolverine could be fun and GI Joe looks like an epic trainwreck.
Fuck Transformers.

#1: X3 blew. Hard. It'll take some incredible reviews to get me interested in what's basically X4.
#2: I prefer Wolvie mysterious. Granted, some partial origin stories have been great (like Origin and Weapon X), but I have a feeling Hollywood won't go the route of stories like those that bring up more questions than they answer.
#3: Gambit is in it. I hate Gambit.
#4: Deadpool is in it. I hate Deadpool more than Gambit. Why does no one else realize it's Snake Eyes with Spider-Man's wisecracking? And Rob Liefeld gets a royalty check every time he appears in anything. He should be banned for no other reason.
#5: Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool. I hate Ryan Reynolds more than a gay porno of Deadpool teabagging Gambit.

You've had no interest in any movies based on properties you liked for the past few years, so is it really that surprising?

Aww, you're making me out to be a hater. I've liked a lot of movies based on things I like. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Speed Racer, TMNT, The Dark Knight, etc, etc, etc. I've just seen so many incredibly shitty adaptations of things I like that I can't work up the interest in spending money to see more.
Wolverine doesn't look bad (unlike GIJoe and Transformers, which it would take a brain-dead 3-year-old to not recognize as crap from a mile away). It's just not the Wolverine I'm into. Wolverine, for me, starting going to pot once every single story had to be some background info that tied every possible character into his story (and, aside from the characters who make some sense to be in it, I've seen someone who's clearly Cyclops in the commercials, which make it look like they're going that route), and every writer had to contradict the origin story that came before to create the "definitive" origin story.

i can see the issues with gambit and deadpool, i'm not a fan of either one. but i think ryan reynolds is funny as hell. i liked him in blade: trinity (another movie that me and one other guy like and no one else does...)

I still think the first 15 minutes or so of X-Men 3 is great. The rest is just OK. Too much was crammed into too little time and the movie suffered greatly.

No arguments there, but Marvel has done the same shit with Wolverine for years.

I haven't read an X-Men comic with Gambit in years, probably since Age of Apocalypse, or close to it. Until that point I always liked Gambit. Granted, every teenager reading X-Men in the 90's liked Gambit.

Deadpool was awesome. Rob fucked up and got lucky when he created him. He started out as a parody and turned into a real character when real writers got their hands on him.

Ryan Reynolds is cool. He was born to play Deadpool.

Despite it's numerous problems I also liked Blade: Trinity.

i think the movie was greatly affected by the production road... too many names (directors, writers, etc...) with too many partially completed parts. brett ratner really gets a bad wrap, he made a passable final outcome of a frankenstein movie.

I guess I forgot about Speed Racer, TMNT, and Dark Knight (LOTR is old news

). I was going to mention Harry Potter in the "like" category but didn't. I just thought you had a similar thing last year or before that, with the apathy/dislike toward Indiana Jones, Clone Wars, and the first Transformers. I was just remembering quotes from you with echoes of "I can't believe I have no interest in seeing a movie based on [blank]." I'm not saying it's your fault, though, just that after you were disappointed in a few other properties you used to like, similar things happening to others shouldn't really be a surprise.

Yeah, but, dude, Transformers, X-Men, and GIJoe were like the Holy Trinity for me growing up. I just find it weird that all three have been made into movies that look less than spectacular.
Ryan Reynolds still bugs the shit out of me, though.
