I didn't have the youtube forever and dunno if this has been posted, anyone who has ever seen almost ANY sci-fi MUST see this clip, it is completely indescribable
I found it on cracked, but there was only a little clip, seeing the entire opening is fucked RIGHT up

Fuck, that was insane! I've not got the balls to take part 2 yet; my head is still reeling from the first installment. Did people in Turkey just not notice the ships were moving backwards a good portion of the time?

yeah I couldn't resist sharing it, it hurt my head too, the NUTTY mishmash of CRAP, between the audio and the footage
Part 2 is kinda TOTALLY different, and tehy end is mindblowing- it basically only bookends the film so 2 is the finale
EDIT the whole goddamn
THING WITH subtitles Onoes I am booked for the next hour and a half... think of this as payback for Convoy

i love how the 'pilots' were just dudes wearing helmets in front of the screen where they were projecting the actual movie. now THAT'S practical effects.

It's actually more stupider with subtitles! Holy shit!! I could only take twenty minutes right now, but will check the rest out later.
I know if I'm ever shot down on an alien world, I'll practice my whistling. I don't want fat skeletons coming to arrest me.

it's delicious eh?? I'm DEFINITELY screening that thing for an audience over the weekend. (no offense to JJL) but it still boggles my MIND that folks can somehow call "Plan 9" the worst movie ever made when shit like that is out there. SO glad I unearthed this, and again credit to cracked for bringing a teaser clip to my attention
EDIT oh yeah, Ran pointed out one of my fave parts of the "pilot scenes" where the background is vader adjusting his controls
Also one shot that gets used a couple times look like it was shot with a handheld in a theatre too

My favorite parts were the ships flying backwards and the upside down Star Destroyer.

oh yeah an alderaan getting the fuck blasted out of it repeatedly is choice too- you haven't even seen near the worst of it Ran, as anarky points out it gets FUCKED UP shortly after the end of that first clip.
I like how all the music is totally copyrighted and yet they refused to use much (I seem to recall a little piece but nothing else) actual SW music
Another interesting fact- the film is called "the man who saved the world" when translated- for some reason a sequel was made in 2006 and it didn't do as well since the effects weren't done the same and thus people thought it was crappy- I swear I am not making that up

Speaking of effects, that robot's lasers towards the end look like they were made by someone using the eraser on a No. 2 pencil.

None taken. We only watched Plan 9 to see why it was given such a title (or why it was even a contender). I still haven't taken in Turkish Star Wars but I probably will this weekend and I have a feeling I'll love it.

Were people in Turkey 25 years ago so stupid that they didn't catch that the movie's voice-over intro contradicts itself a few times about whether the earth was destroyed or not, and whether the people were at war or not?

You mean the same country that is on a major fault line and doesn't have any buildings that have any sort of seismic protection?

I watched it a bit with commentary/subs
it seems the transliteration went slightly awry...
it DOES make it even more confusing- apparently the "heroes" are flying the TIE fighters?
VERY peculiar this one is......

Yeah, I caught that they were flying the TIEs the first time. The villain was "launching" the X-Wings... backwards. I'm not sure where Vader's TIE suddenly came in, or who was in it, or if they knew him, or what. It's a mess.
Ran wrote:You mean the same country that is on a major fault line and doesn't have any buildings that have any sort of seismic protection?
Yeah, but that's kinda ignorance and lack of progress. The continuity jumps in this mess would take stupidity. Ignorance isn't stupidity, it's just the lack of knowledge. The ignorant man has never encountered a superhighway and doesn't know not to sleep in it. The stupid man knows what it is, but thinks the cars will all miss him.
