Star Wars Galaxies. Two years of building up my char. going from one profession to the next until I found one that I liked. THEN I finally unlock my Jedi slot. so now I can run around and burn stuff with my lightsaber. I was totally looking forward to the Jedi grind to build him up.. but it wasnt meant to be.
SOE revamped the game. they enabled the CU or combat upgrade so they say.. what they did in reality is change the entire game.
before the CU. I could login and buff up, pretty much make myself invincible for about 3 hours at a time.. god mode if you will.. even then it didnt always work out like I wanted. but it was close. I could kick the shit out of anything for the most part. I was a solo guru. I didnt need - nor want anyones help. I was a master.
now, post CU I die if I look at something wrong. the levels of everything have changed. the buffs the drs give no longer give you the god mode that once was.. too many things to name.
Im quite bummed. they just put out another expansion and I was looking forward to checking it out.
for the time being. Ive cancelled my account. My char is still there. and he will be there for awhile should I decide to break down and get back in.. but right now I hate it. Id have to re-learn the whole fucking system.
so.. on one hand,. relearning a new system probably wouldnt hurt me.. on the other.. TWO FUCKING YEARS and now I cant play my Jedi.. GAH!
my 1st venture into the online gaming world. I realized quickly why the call it evercrack. It certainly is addicting. another reason Im so pissed about it. They make a game thats geared to me.. and then fuck it up.

I've never gone down that path, but came VERY close with FFXI (only the cost precluded me from getting in - I was going to have to buy the Hard Drive and game for $120 then change my internet provider, then try to upgrade my PC to handle the new internet connection - just couldn't do it). I've heard their terrible, and know a guy with 3 kids who just can't seem to get off Counterstrike - and you don't even progress in Counterstrike! I can appreciate the appeal of playing games like that or sports, or racing online, but it would be hard to play an RPG where you have to depend on teammates or certain other types being around to accomplish stuff - that would piss me off.
