well, since it's in video games and says speed racer, i'll talk about it here, even though the initial post is about the PS2 version.
i'm hoping there's a bit... more... to the game. i feel like there are only four tracks and each time you're on them, it's only a slight bit different, or a little longer.
can you drive the roadsters/street cars? can you do the casa cristo?
don't get me wrong, it's a REALLY fun game, i'm just hoping for MORE of the game, so i can have MORE fun.
and we now need to put a speed racer comics topic in the comics forum to have one in each of movies, television, toys, video games, and comics.
maybe there's some sort of gourmet food line involved with SR so we can put it in food as well...

It's a good game, but, yeah, there's not much to it. I didn't see the point in folks who were complaining about the lack of an online version, or multiplayer with more than two people, but it would benefit greatly from either or both. The "car fu" would be hella fun with more than one person.
Basically, finish a circuit, unlock a new racer. There's four tracks with multiple variations, and the Grand Prix track, which I've not unlocked yet. Some of the neat features, like allies and rivals, don't work on multiplayer at all.
It also would've been cool if, on really advanced levels, you could actually unlock the cartoon versions of characters like Speed, X, Kabala, and Snake. Imagine the popup window with cartoon Speed saying, "I must drive fast because if I drive fast I can win and I must win to earn Pops' respect."
It boils down to a good game that could easily be great if there were more of it.

yeah, it would've been awesome as a mariokart wii style online game or 4-player game.

that's what i figured... oh well, here's to hoping for a sequel movie and game tie-in...

that sucks. you mentioned that "car-fu would be hella fun with more than one person" - does that mean you can't do it in multiplayer?
yeah, i know... but with the movie thread, the toys thread and the tv thread, i figured we should have an active dedicated video game thread.

You can do car fu in multiplayer. It's just the system of making alliances doesn't work. It could be a lot of fun to race with Player 2 as either your ally or rival.
One other minor complaint: the ally/rival system isn't logical. You can actually have two allies who are rivals with one another, or have characters accept alliances they normally wouldn't (such as Racer X allying himself with Cannonball--even if he didn't say anything, he wouldn't work with Speed's rival). I'd prefer it stick closer to the characters as they're established in the movie.
