i rock at web design!!!
hey, i don't know how many of you check out the rest of the website, but if you do, you can now pick a different "theme" which basically changes the entire website to another design! pretty fuckin' cool, huh?
so, yeah, everyone check it out, and let me know what's what. if it doesn't work on your system, or if you don't like it, or whatever.
it's called "macabre" as it's based on the color scheme from one of my favorite comics, with spooky storylines. can you guys name it?
there will be some images coming, i just don't have the time right now... and for now the forum will remain the default colors of the original design, which i've dubbed "cool blue boxes."
so, yeah, check it out from the index page on

Hey Vyn, I loaded it up. Nice color set, I'll go with "From Hell" for the comic it looks like.
When I went over to Macabre, I couldn't see the brain - not sure if that was the concept or my computer's inability to display enough colours. Also found reading the news a little tough, had to highlight the writing to get enough contrast to make out the letters.
Not to bitch, just FYI..............

no, that's totally cool. i need the input. although i checked it out on a mac in the apple store, and the colors looked okay... you might want to check out your brightness levels [arrr]
close, but no cigar on the "from hell." think ongoing series, more supernatural, with a quirky sense of humor... the addition of the images i'm working on will make it more apparent.
speaking of which, the brain is going to only be part of the "cool blue boxes" scheme. i'll have another image and a different spacing for the links on the index page. i'm "beta testing" the new theme right now, and you guys are my test group.
i don't know if i should have the list of themes available on every page, or if i should have one page that changes the theme...

<br />I like the "toggle" box, Vyn. That rocks.

thanks, cool... now the next thing i'm thinking is whether to have them be text links, or some kind of image link that has the color palatte of the theme, and then have the name appear when you fly over it... (that's what i'm leaning toward...) as for the main content text, i think i will make the gray a little lighter.
jdr... cool to hear from you. yeah, it was on safari at the apple store. i don't know if they take the time to put IE on their machines in the store.
the time it took to load the new style on the index page was probably (hopefully?) just the time it took to read the new CSS document and apply it to the html. let me know if it continues to lag like that, since it should now be in your cache folder, that would mean something was going wrong. also, try changing back to the "cool blue boxes" theme on some random page, and see if the lag is there, too. if so, it might be safari taking it's time with the javascript to switch the themes.

It could be that safari is having a heck of a time with the javascript, it definitely takes an effort, even with the page in the cache, and the index doesn't seem to like to load up correctly when I visit it, maybe just me though, but I have to hit reload in order to get it to come up. Whatever, I still like the color scheme and a reload is just a quickey away.
Rock on man.
Rock on man.

i also have the image of the "cool blue boxes" navigation background (the bacon strips...) pre-load on the index page, so maybe safari is having issues with that as well... i dunno, the connection at the apple store was so bad, i couldn't tell if the site was slow, or the 'net - i had two other browser windows open at the time, and none of them were loading fast, if at all!
strange...
and the index page will be completely different after i finish the "glyph" images that will accompany the "macabre" theme...

okay, so i'll tell you the color theme is based on "hellboy" - every color was taken directly from scanned images of the comic.
new feature, randomized text in the "title" bar on the index page! it's fun and useless... i don't know if i'll keep it around for too long. but check out the main page at
http://www.vynsane.com
and keep reloading, and read the title bar. it's pretty funny!
