I hate wannabe poets

You know what? I'm fucking sick of people who think it's easy to write poetry, and subject you to their Hallmark-reject shit.
There are so few people who can write poetry that isn't boring as shit, in spite of what touchy-feely pussy professors will tell you.
Give it up. If you're writing something you think is poetry, chances are you're not one of the tiny number of people who can pull it off, and you're just going to embarass yourself when you sound like a fucktard.

I just hate poetry, period (with the exception of Shel Silverstein's work). Whenever we had a poetry workshop in school, I was always miserable.

I'm with G-deuce, I fuckin HATE poetry of all kinds unless it's song lyrics but they don't have to be flowery, just have a rhyme scheme that fits with the musical arrangement is all
I hated poetry in school SO much -especially haiku- Haiku in English is just plain silly, if we were gonna do it right we should have been writing them in Japanese- in French class is school I remember we used to have to sing- usually christmas songs translated into French, and it would be one of two things, the lyrics would either be changed SO much as to not even be close to the original song just to make them rhyme, or the funnier of the two, the tunes would just have kinda transliterated lyrics that paid NO attention to the musical meter or rhyme scheme. Always thought it was ghey
An interesting side note (dunno if it's the same in the US with spanish) but our National anthem in English is a TOTALLLY different song lyrics wise than the French one- the French one is MUCH cooler IMO

unlike canada, where you've got two official languages, there actually is no official constitutional language of the US. unofficially it's english, but nowhere is it decreed the official american language, so the official version of the anthem is only in english. i don't know if there is necessarily an official spanish version, but i'd imagine it would be a pretty faithful translation barring any necessary phraseology that didn't translate well.

Someone translated the anthem into Spanish a few years ago, and it met with widespread disapproval from all the NeoCons.
And I like poetry. But only up to a point. The last good poet was Robert Frost. Everything since has sucked.
And TS Elliot is an overrated windbag.

Chuxter, my friend
is this the end
Of our friendship, our love
oh why must you shove
your cock in my throat
while I massage your scrote
just long enough
til you blow your stuff
on top of my hair
while I prepare Nair
for your ball bag to glean
while I bust my spleen
laughing at your ridiculously tiny cock.

That's fuckin' poetry, and I wrote it inside of 3 minutes.
Robert Frost is a cunt.

Would you like a poet in the rain?
Would you like a poet on Soul Train?
Maybe you'd like Bizarro The Grin
To rest his nuts upon your chin
Maybe you'd like Bizarro The Grip
To leave some salsa on your lip
Maybe you'd like Snigtad
To drop to his knees and stroke your bag
Maybe you'd like Devestator
To show you why he's called the anal penetrator
How about that guy named Sleazer
Shows you his mighty pocket geyser
Apologize, or Maya Angelou
Will come to your house and poop in your shoe
Now say that poets aren't that bad
or Walt Whitman will hump your dad

"Sleazer" doesn't rhyme with "geiser", Sam. You fail.

I don't hate all poetry, but I do absolutely hate all the emo shit that I see the young girls writing. They write the most cliche' shit ever. They write about crying, about their heart, about dying, and about bleeding. And it's like dude, shut the fuck up. You are writing about the most common and banal shit that anyone could possibly think of. All the girls want to be Sylvia Plath. And they should totally kill themselves as she did.

Once a poem of mine was published....
That's when I knew the art form had died.
