Re: Winter Classic - Sabres vs. Penguins
I wasn't that surprised they won last night. It seemed they had something going for them when they scored on their 2nd shot, which was 15 minutes into the 1st period. Weber tried handing the game to Tampa with that 4 minute penalty.

Now to see if Tampa comes out hot or flat at home in game 5. Carey Price has no choice but to be pretty much perfect from here on in.

So game 5 hasn't been postponed?

Nope it appears to be happening. Elsa touched down to the north of TB apparently.

Re: Winter Classic - Sabres vs. Penguins
Lost track of how many He-Man references I saw online since Friday because the Sabres took Owen Power 1st overall.
For the past few years, it seems like there have been several sons of former NHL players in every draft. It was pretty cool that the Coyotes took Shane Doan's son. New Jersey also drafted Jack Hughes' brother, so there was kind of a family theme to the draft.
Since the draft was being held virtually, every player seemed to have a webcam set up. At some point during end of the 2nd or early 3rd round, one kid had the camera set up on a coffee table in front of a couch. The player, his mother, and sister(?) were sitting there. When they called his name, they all got up and started jumping. The mother was wearing a short dress and managed to flash her panties.

Re: Winter Classic - Sabres vs. Penguins
The Blues vs. Wild outdoor game just started. They are playing in the Twins stadium. The temp is -8°F. There are heating coils built into the ice to heat it up. It sounds counterintuitive, but If the ice gets too cold, it gets chippy and the puck doesn't slide right.
The Wild are wearing green jersey, yellow shorts, and green socks. The yellow shorts look weird. It reminds me of some of the funky colors they used in the NES Blades of Steel.

Yeah I'm not really sure what was going on with those - trying to reminisce over the North Stars unis perhaps? Either way, they wound up looking like vomit.

...and Jack Eichel still can't win in Buffalo.
I really wanted him to do well when the drafted him, but I'm glad the Sabres traded him. It turns out that he wasn't fit to be a team captain. Maybe it is his attitude or his immaturity. Anyway, Tuch and Krebs are doing great.

Re: Winter Classic - Sabres vs. Penguins
This has been the busiest run-up to the trade deadline that I can remember. Crazy amounts of well known players changing teams in preparation for the playoffs. Friday at 3pm is the deadline. So far the Wings' big move is extending their captain for 8 years. The Maple Leafs have been going nuts adding new players.

Re: Winter Classic - Sabres vs. Penguins
The Leafs' GM must be trying to save his job. How are all these new players supposed to develop chemistry before the playoffs?
So far the Sabres traded Vancouver for Corey Stillman's kid, and a college goalie(Portillo at Michigan) to LA for a 3rd round pick. It doesn't look like they want to stray much from "the plan" so far. The rumor is that they are looking for cheap depth. What they really need is to figure out how to win at home.

Re: Winter Classic - Sabres vs. Penguins
Buffalo announced the Jacksonville Icemen as their ECHL affiliate. Does there logo look like a comic book villain? Like some sort of derivative of Mr. Freeze?

That's it. I got his name mixed up.
