Shrek 3 or whatever

I only accidentally saw a tiny bit of the first film and after all the hype and glowing reviews about how good it was, I felt embarassed to even be a human after seeing the little bit I saw
The "humour" sucks rocks, the film seemed about as funny as Family Circus "comics" with stronger language
I had to sit through the trailer for this new one while seein Spidey 3 and I have never wanted my eyes to get goudged out SO BAD
The level of humour is so cheap and low-brow it makes much of the material on this very site look like some kind of classical literature. I know the "trick" is that this franchise is "kida movies tyhat adults can 'get' too" but dammit, imagining that actual bona-fide "adults" could actually enjoy this shit kinda seriously frightens me- "reality TV" was scary enough, but somehow this kind of pure shit makes me even more uncomfortable
Okay, I'm done- sorry to anyone who is gettin roped into seeing this fucking filth in advance. If you need help recovering from a viewing, phone me up and I'll explain where ya went wrong- tough love man, it's the only way out

The second movie's sequence where they are rescuing them from the dungeon and the question of Pinnochio's undergarments comes into question. I laughed at that. I still do. Guess you have to be in the right mood to watch it.

i enjoyed the first one, and the second one was humorous, although it was bordering close to the kids getting the "grown-up" jokes... and it made me uncomfortable, seeing as how my girlfriend (then, now wife) and i brought her nephew to see it, and he was laughing at stuff i felt he shouldn't have...
i don't really have any desire to see "the third".

I feel the same as Vyn on this. First one was good, 2 was OK, three, no desire whatsoever.

well, if it sucks even a quarter as hard as the trailer, the thing is a fucking piece or rancid dog shit, only worse. I wanted to punch myself in the nuts as hard as I could while it was on, if only to divert my attention, it was truly that evil and shitty
And I'm NOT gettin old and bitter, either

I probably won't have to see it until it comes out on DVD. Even then, I will probably ignore it. One of the kids' Grandmothers will probably take them to the theater to see it this summer.
The only part of the commercial that caught my eye was the ginger bread man pooping an M&M or gumdrop or whatever it was. It was kind of funny, but didn't really seem appropriate for kids. I can't think of a single kids show that has done anything like that. Ren & Stimpy came close, but they only inferred someone was pooping.

I'm a bit of a loser then, because I've found both the Shrek movies enjoyable, and will take my kids to the theatre to see part 3.
In my defense (and I realize that I may have none) I'd like to submit the following:
1) Miranda was watching Barney for an hour a day when Shrek came out. ANYTHING that wasn't Barney, but was suitable for kids fucking ROCKED back then.
2) Donkey reminds me of my late, great doggy companion Woody. I'm sentimental - sue me.
3) Puss in Boots licking his crotch is funny stuff, even now. Yes, I realize that I might be retarded.

I'm usually not a fan of them either - Over the Hedge and Madagascar nearly sent me into homicidal rages. Thank God I'm able to slip away while they're watching this carp and spend my time more purposefully - here with you perverts.

I, too, liked the first but didn't really like the second . . . it seemed like a lot of the same shit but with unfunny pop culture references every five seconds.

You have to admit: these movies seem to be the only places where Mike Meyers and Eddie Murphy are still funny.

Eddie Murphy was great in the first Shrek. I was rollin' when he accused Shrek of farting when he had his mouth open. Classic line from his old stand up days.

Yep, you're right. Even though Antonio Banderas (who is NOT a comedian) stole the show from them in the second one.

Well, it's not as good as the first two. So for those of you who thought the first two sucked, this one REALLY sucks. And if you enjoyed the first two, this one is still funny, but less so, relying on too many "I'm gonna ba a daddy, woe is me" humor and extensive baby poop and barf comedy. Not to mention trying too hard to squeeze as many mid-evil puns and or modern day anachronisms into it as possible. The only part that made me laugh for its own sake was the Gingerbread Man's life flashing before his eyes and recalling a "Six Million Dollar man" moment when he got his legs reattached. But there was too little off beat funny this time around and too much exposition and "being different is okay" blah.
