Given that it's in the description for this section, I wanted to give this turd its due. I've never actually seen it but one of my friends and I have read up on this gem and we're having a "Mac and Me graduation party" so I ordered the DVD. Who all has actually seen it? I know it's gonna suck but I want to know how badly.

I saw it.

It is horrific.

It's a 2-hour knockoff of ET that morphs into this ridiculous ad for McDonald's and Coke. At one point, the main human character and the alien kid ("Mac") find the alien's family on the brink of death. So they pour Coke into their mouths, saying, "This is like the stuff they drink on their home planet!" Of course, it works. Oh, and Mac gets to dance with Ronald McDonald at one point, too.

I hope by "ordered," you mean got from Netflix or Blockbuster. Even if you expect badness, you'll be disgusted by wasting money on owning this turd.

I got it online for around $10 shipped, but I'm giving it to him for his birthday. I know how it's supposed to be one of the worst movies ever, which is why we wanted to see it. Dunno. Maybe if I watch the Holiday Special right afterwards it won't look so bad in comparison?

I actually have to say I think The Holiday Special is better.

I have to ask, though - did any of you see it without the prior knowledge that it was really bad, thinking it was just some nice little kids' movie? Or did you go into it knowing what you were gonna get?

I saw it with my family, in my early teens, but even then it was one I would never have paid to see. It looked bad. Not corny, a la Short Circuit or Harry & the Hendersons (I don't need to tell you I enjoyed those). No, this looked bad.

I've never seen it in any stores so this was really the only way I could get it. Frankly I'm just curious about it now; I already know about several of the really shitty scenes and the McDonald's/Coke/Sears references and wanted to see them for myself. I wasn't planning on liking this at all, and my friend and I have been joking about it for a while. It still hasn't arrived, though.
