Okay, so something happened with my PC that I totally felt was kinda suspicious-

The other day, when I turned it on, it had a popup about some new FLASH player or something- thing is, my PC is on dialup and never connected "automatically"
it was NOT connected when the popup appeared, and nothing I have is set to upgrade by itself (since my PC is off more often than it's on)

I told the popup to fuck off figuring it might be spyware of some kind of dialer or who knows what- anyone else get this, like maybe 3 days ago, or is it suspicious as I imagine it possibly was??

I know it sounds silly, but I am not so concerned as to freeak out, just figured one o' you turkeys could give a quick yea or nay

was it a pop-up as in a browser window, or a dialog box like when you get alerts in your OS? has it happened since?

it was an odd looking thing, not browser like which was my first suspicion

I told it to never upgrade and it hasn't returned, I just found it odd that it would just appear on startup, I never saw FLASH do anything like that, and I haven't had an updated plugin or player thingy for it for a year or more, why it would all of a sudden ask me about upgrades is beyond me

i'm not sure about it, but adobe recently acquired macromedia, so it may be a new campaign they're doing... i haven't seen anything like it, though. are you using a instant messaging system, like yahoo messenger or something? new versions of YIM ask you to upgrade flash for their deluxe smilies...
