Dammit!
I used to have all of Led Zeppelin's albums on tape except for The Song Remains the Same. Over time, I started replacing my collection with CDs. I bought both Zeppelin box sets, Physical Graffiti, BBC Sessions, and How The West Was Won. My cassette tape collection grew smaller and smaller every time I moved, and I think I'm down to 2 tapes total, neither of which are Led Zeppelin (1984 and In 3-D).
Than some bastard on the other site started a thread about Favorite Led Zeppelin albums. When I went over to amazon to look, I realized how many Zeppelin tunes I was missing from my collection.
Thanks a lot, jackass.

If you've got the money and want them on CD, spring for The Complete Studio Works. All the albums, plus the new and rare tracks from the boxed sets (including "Hey Hey What Can I Do," which is totally indispensible).
The only studio recording you'll be missing is a remixed medley of Moby Dick and Bonzo's Montreaux from the first boxed set, but it's not a severe loss.
Edit: never mind. You've got the two boxed sets, so get the individual albums. I'd advise this order:
IV
III
II
I
Physical Graffitti
The Song Remains the Same
In Through the Out Door
Presence
Coda

I'm going to have to compare which songs are on the box sets to each album to see what I'm missing. I doubt I'll buy Song Remains the Same only because I have How the West Was Won and the Zeppelin DVD. If I do buy it, I'll just get the SRTS on DVD. That's one trippy movie. I had to watch it 5 times before I got through it without falling asleep. No Quarter will do that to you late at night.

This past spring, some kid gave me all the songs from the box set, but a hell of a lot of them were misnamed. That was fun to get it all sorted out.
I recommend putting them in the correct order as they were on the albums; they're much better that way, and you already have all the songs anyway.

Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

Re: Dammit!
Maybe someone from the MTS can change the title of this thread to something more Led Zeppelin related....
XM just kicked off a new station that only plays Zeppelin.

I think they are playing some of the other side projects, as well. I listened to it for about a 20 minutes this morning and they played some solo Robert Plant. There aren't many bands that can fill up one station.A 24/7 celebration of the music and magic of Led Zeppelin.
A handcrafted channel dedicated to everything Led Zeppelin, including studio albums, rare and archival concerts, interviews, and listener interaction. A continuous and mystical radio voyage into the past, present, and future of the mighty Led Zeppelin.
Plus, to kick off the channel, listen all day on Thursday, November 8 to hear the U.S. premiere of the re-issued two-disc album The Song Remains The Same. This album features previously unreleased material from a live concert that ran over the course of three nights in July of 1973 at Madison Square Garden in NYC.

Shit, I don't think there are ANY bands that can fill up a whole radio station. I could see them doing this for a while (as some have "Zeptember"), but not for too long.
On iTunes, all of their stuff is available, but only if you buy it all at once for $99 (it's their studio stuff plus a few random live albums and the remastered Mothership). Dunno if that's a good deal or not.

Re: Dammit!
I don't know how long it is going to last. But...they have 9 studio albums, one of which was a double disc and 3 live albums (Song remains the same was 2 discs, Live at the BBC is 2, and How the West Was Won is 3). There is also a 2 dvd live set that came out a while back. Then if you count Plant's solo work and the Page/Plant albums, that's 15 more. If they play Jimmy Page's side projects (like Coverdale-Page and The Firm) there are another 12 albums. I'm sure there are plenty of interviews with the band recorded over the past 40 years and some other unreleased concerts. They can go for a while without repeating an exact recording,
Typically, when XM does a show (like an interview or some sort of other special), they will repeat it the same night for the west coast. That could kill a few hours each run.

Re: Dammit!
Studio:
Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin II
Led Zeppelin III
Led Zeppelin IV (ZOSO)
Houses of the Holy
Physical Graffitti (2D)
Presence
In Through the Out Door
Coda
Live:
The Song Remains the Same (2D)
BBC Sessions (2D)
How the West Was Won (3D)
So 17 discs worth of stuff. Also, there are three tracks that are only on the first boxed set or The Complete Studio Recordings, as well as a fourth on the second boxed set and TCSR, and one song that's (oddly) on the first boxed set but not TCSR. (Two of those songs are "Hey Hey What Can I Do" and "Baby Come Back Home," both of which are damned good.) If iTunes is really all of it, that's worth $100.
I think Mothership is just like the OOP 2-disc Greatest Hits, meaning it's another 2-disc collection with really shitty song choices.
Plant is a dick, since his 2-disc greatest hits album doesn't include "I'm in the Mood," one of his biggest solo hits. What a cocksucker.

Re: Dammit!
The complete studio recordings box is on amazon.com for $125. I have the 2 box sets, Physical Graffitti, BBC Sessions, How the West Was Won, and this dvd. Combined, they cost over $100. I got each of them when they came out, so the cost was spread out.
I did some math for the 24/7 station:
17 Led Zeppelin discs
Plant's solo work:
Pictures at Eleven
The Principle of Moments
The Honeydrippers: Volume One
Shaken 'n' Stirred
Now and Zen
Manic Nirvana
Fate of Nations
No Quarter: Jimmy Page and Robert Plant Unledded
Walking into Clarksdale
Dreamland
Mighty ReArranger
Soundstage: Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation
Nine Lives
Raising Sand
Jimmy Page:
Guitar Boogie Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton blues album (1971)
Special Early Works (1972), 1965 session recordings with Sonny Boy Williamson
Death Wish II Soundtrack (1982),
No Introduction Necessary (1984), 1968 session recordings feat. John Paul Jones and Albert Lee
Whatever Happened to Jugula? (1985), with Roy Harper
The Firm (1985)
Mean Business (1986)
Strange Land (1986), with Box of Frogs
Lucifer Rising (1987)
Outrider (1988), US #26
Coverdale-Page (1993)
Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes - Live at the Greek
That's 26 more albums, for a total of 43 albums...plus those "rare live recordings", interviews and call-in shows they mentioned in the description. As I said earlier, they would loop the "special events" probably 4 times in a week.
The whole thing is probably fueled by the reunion tour. If the station is successful, I bet a Beatles station would be the next choice.

Re: Dammit!
$125? I paid $99.99 for it about ten years ago. It's not common for stuff to go up in price like that.
John Paul Jones did a lot of session work back in the day, as did Mr Page. Page played on hit songs by guys like Donovan.
Page was also in the Yardbirds. Some of their later recordings are full-on Zep. (One even sounds like an early version of "Over the Hills and Far Away.")
And does Jason Bonham count, as he did replace his father in several live performances?
