SNL reruns on comedy central

most tv sucks these days, but there are some shining examples of good writing, acting, camera work, etc... we call those Deadwood and Arrested Development. Family Guy sucks ass, though...

SNL reruns on comedy central

Post by Jedi Knightrider 3000 »

one thing that continually bugs me is that the show is cut from an hour and a half to an hour... but it's not just that, it's that BOTH, not just one, but BOTH performances by the musical guest are left IN! now, am i watching a music channel? (not that they actually PLAY music...) or am i watching COMEDY central, a channel with comedy in the name, which CUTS COMEDY OUT OF SNL TO LET BOTH MUSICAL GUEST PERFORMANCES STAY...

i don't know... am i being oversensitive?

I have seen some where there is only one performance. I think if it is a highly popular band they leave both in. I agree I watch to laugh not see live bands. If that was the case I would watch MTV....oh wait, they dont play music anymore. Oh well I guess someone has to play music

Was this show ever funny? People have this nostalgic feeling for all these old skits by that fat guy who was never funny in any of his movies, or Chevy Chase and Eddie Murphy. When was the last time they were funny? Did you see Pluto Nash or Haunted Mansion? I think they kicked Chevy Chase out of Hollywood for being unfunny. And then the show just got worse as the 80's and 90's happened and you were forced to laugh at unfunny skits like Church Lady with that prick Dana Carvey because you felt obligated to support this unfunny show, you heard was edgy and topical back in the 70's but you really didn't see what all the fuss was about. And now hear it is 50 years later and the show still sucks and the only reason it's still on the air is because it's on at 1:00 in the morning and NBC president Les Moonves doesn't give a shit because he's already in bed so why bother trying to find another shitty program to fill this barrel bottom timeslot when all the cool people are actually out partying and getting laid when he can just froth off this "nostalgic" program that everybody proffers to love but no one really watches except you farters in reruns on cable? SNL sucks! Ha ha! Didn't you get the memo?

I laugh when I think about all the revenue that has been lost in green lighting SNL "stars" movies only to watch them tank horrifically at the box office. So not only has SNL been sucking money from NBC and its advertisers for four decades it's been sucking the studios money too. It's like the vampiric equivalent of a vampire. For the record, I've only seen Wayne's World in reruns and other the outlandish outdatedness of their mullets, nothing about it is funny. It could almost be an actual cable access tv show its so bad. Irony.

`SNL' debuts with Fey as Palin, Phelps as host

Post by Newsbot »

Code: Select all

From the "I don't know why this is news" section:

NEW YORK - Live from New York ... it's Tina Fey as Gov. Sarah Palin.

After wild conjecture over whom would play Sen. John McCain's running mate on "Saturday Night Live," Fey returned to her old show for an opening sketch featuring her and Fey's former "Weekend Update" co-host Amy Poehler as Sen. Hillary Clinton.

The NBC comedy show's season premiere opened Saturday with a "nonpartisan message" where the two pleaded for an end to sexism in the presidential campaigns — which have seen Palin enjoy sudden popularity after Clinton's loss to Sen. Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination.

"I didn't want a woman to be president, I wanted to be president," said Poehler, reprising her caricature of Clinton.

Many have said Fey bears a resemblance to Palin, a comparison alluded to in the sketch. A frustrated Clinton eventually broke down, complaining about Palin's ease of ascendance and her "Tina Fey glasses."

A few digs were made about Palin being less experienced than Clinton. As Poehler's Clinton bragged about her foreign policy experience, Fey's Alaskan governor exclaimed: "I can see Russia from my house!"

When Poehler said she disagreed with the Bush Doctrine, Fey's Palin acknowledged, "I don't know what that means" — a reference to Palin's apparent confusion on the subject in her first major interview earlier this week on ABC.

Poehler wrapped up the sketch: "In conclusion, I invite the media to grow a pair. And if you can't, I will lend you mine."

"SNL" returned early this fall for its 34th season in part to capitalize on the presidential campaign. The show has historically had particular relevance in its political parodies.

Last season, a sketch making fun of the media's fawning over Obama was seen as causing the press to rethink its coverage. In 2000, Darrell Hammond's impression of Al Gore in the debates made the phrase "lock box" ubiquitous.

This year's season debut was expected to dive even further into politics because of a planned appearance from Obama. But the Senator canceled his cameo early Saturday. His campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Obama decided it was no longer appropriate because of the devastation caused by Hurricane Ike.

Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps was the host. Phelps, who won eight gold medals at last month's Beijing Olympics, said in his opening monologue: "This seriously is like the ninth best moment of my life."

Phelps' mother, Debbie, got in on the joke from the audience, as did William Shatner, who made an irreverent cameo.

The star swimmer stumbled over a number of lines, but also performed in a reprise of a sketch another athletic "SNL" host, Peyton Manning, played last season. As he did a similarly football-themed sketch, cast member Will Forte played a swimming coach trying to rally a despondent swim team in a locker room.

As team captain "Michael Phillips," Phelps said: "I just don't think I'm cut out for this whole swimming thing."
Putting the broad back into broadcasting.

I can't be arsed reading that shit. how 'bout a one line summary.
I have never read any of your posts, but from what I can learn I should say that for people who like the kind of posts you deliver, they are just the kind of posts such people like.

The more accurate summary:

This shitty-ass show should've been canceled fifteen years ago. It's an embarrassment to humanity that it's still on, and puppies die whenever it airs.

Oh, and Tina Fey is obviously fucking one of the producers, otherwise she'd never have gotten work. That bitch is less funny than a scrotal pimple.

When was the last time you watched a full episode? I can't stand some of the episodes from around ten years ago, but last season was pretty much awesome all around. Last night's wasn't quite that good but it had a fair share of good laughs. The opening sketch was absolutely fucking awesome.

I'll also assume you haven't seen 30 Rock. Trust me, you would love it.
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

I'll admit, I've not seen a full episode in ages. I can't stay awake long enough to see if they save the funny for the end. At 11:30, you'd better get my attention quick.

I think I saw 30 Rock and wasn't especially impressed. It could've been my loathing of both Fey and the Baldwins clouding my vision, though.

Eh. I know the first few episodes of 30 Rock weren't especially good, but it definitely got better.

I mean, Paul Reubens as a horny, deformed, foreign prince? How in the hell could you not love that? (That episode is called Black Tie; I know nbc.com and hulu.com have some of the episodes for free.) It might take a while to get into it, though.
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.
