Y'know, I never made that connection.
And I'd forgotten he co-wrote most of the good Lobo comics back in the day, too.

I think I want to have a sex change so I can bear Jeff Smith's children. This book is awesome.
I won the entire series on ebay for a $1.25 It should be arriving today along with Peter David's complete Captain Marvel, and a few other mini series I won for 99 cents each. Not each issue, each series.

Cruising along through Fables and 100 Bullets still. 9-10 of 100 Bullets, which is fucking amazing, and 7-8 of Fables, which is equally fucking amazing. I expected both to be good, but didn't expect them to be two of the best series I've ever read.
Also checked out Tintin Volume 1, Persepolis 1 & 2, and a kids' graphic novel by Art Spiegelman (and if anyone asks who he is, I'm personally coming to your house to kick your nuts and revoke your posting privileges in this forum) called Jack and the Box.

I guess Finch made the choice for me. Only on the fourth issue and they've decided to bring in another artist. Nice try, Lao Che. David Finch:Writer isn't the hook of that series, it's David Finch:Artist. Combine that with already perpetual tardiness and you've got yourself the makings of an All Star book. Or if you wanna go back almost 20 years, an Image book.

16 books this week. And no Fear Itself crossovers. yay me.
Avengers 12. The conclusion of the Infinity Gems storyline. The Avengers give the Hood an ass beating. Cap asks Red Hulk to officially join the Avengers (barf). And then the Illuminati retake posession of the gems, except now Steve Rogers has Blackbolts gem. Wow. Remember when the Super-Heroes weren't assholes?
Avengers Academy 12. The conclusion of the Korvac story, with the Academy kids from the future taking the fight to Korvac and beating him easily (thus kinda retroactively making the A-List Avengers squad from the 70s look like chumps.) Then Mettle and Hazmat have a tender moment on the last page. And its moments like that which make this my favorite Avengers book right now.
Batman 709. Concludes the Azrael wanting to blow up Gotham crossover with Red Robin and Gotham City Sirens. Shocker, but Batman convinces Az he's wrong and saves Gotham. Who didn't see THAT coming?
GIJoe ARAH 165. Skystriker vs Rattler battle!!!!! Damn this book is awesome.
GIJOE Cobra Commander Tribute. 100 Page Spectacular. Reprints GIJOE Cobra 12 (which is just as awesome the second time. "Yo Joe." And then reprints some key Marvel issues, 58 (CC's first time in battle armor) 61 (CC gets "killed". Also my second Joe issue ever and still one of my favorites. So getting to reread it was a huge treat.) and 98 (CC is back and throws everyone in the tanker and buries it. Yah! badass.) Pricey at $7.99 but worth it.
Gotham City Sirens 22. Second part of the Batman crossover above. Azrael wants Selina to kill her sister to prove her worthiness to God. Selina tells him where to stick it.
Green Lantern 65. Part 4 of the War crossover. Haven't read any of them yet.
Green Lantern Corps 59.Part 5 of the crossover. haven't read it, but the cover is spoiler-y. All the Earth GLs are wearing different rings now. Hal is yellow. Guy is red. Kyle is blue. And John is Indigo.
Iron Man 2.0 4. No Iron Man appears anywhere in this issue. its just a supporting character sitting in a room reading testimonies of people about another minor character. And yet, it was a very compelling issue. go figure.
Spectacular Spider-Man 1000. Wow, Spec Spidey already at issue 1000? Where does the time go--oh. I see. Just a one shot (might even be an inventory story, as it takes place when Peter is still a teacher). And it has ASM 129, Punisher's first appearance (again) as a back-up feature.
Teen Titans 94. The team try and find WonderGirl who got kidnapped last issue. Robin and Ravager get knicked this time, and Ravager gets replaced with a doppelganger.
Thunderbolts 156. The Tbolts start picking replacement members.
Transformers:Heart of Darkness 2. Galvatron gets shot by Arcee and Hardhead. Then he figures out the Dead Universe isn't finished with them and gets ready to warn everyone. Good stuff.
Wolverine 8. Wolvie fonally breaks free of the demons possessing him, just in the nick of time before Cyclops kills him. Also, the team sent into his psyche to help him has some funny moments looking to "doors" in his psyche labeled things like "X-Men I've Had Sex With" "How I Cheat At Poker" "Sex Fantasies" (which has a room with Emma Frost, and Squirrel Girl among others.
Wolverine/Jubilee 4. Uhmm. So...they're in a...realm. And there are dragons. And Rockslide is there. And Jube's kills a..demon. Or something.
X-Factor 218. X-Factor prevents the assassination of Jonah Jameson with the help of the Black Cat, and Monet gets really pissed because Guido got shot. Then he dies at the end. Then at the VERY end he's all better.

So I made another Lonestar Comics online purchase, my first one in well over a year. 40 books for $60, free shipping to by brother in Minnesota. Took a nice chunk out of my Punisher Max needs (I'll be down to less than 10 issues to fill it out when they arrive), finished a few old limited series that I had kicking around half done also (JLA Avengers, Rogue ltd series from around 2005, that type of stuff).
The Amazing Spider-Man issues from the numbering reset are almost ready for that "too expensive" thread - I don't want to pay $50 for any of those, come on guys ><

I've used Lonestar before. They had some good books for decent prices.
Was that Rogue series an actual limited series, or an ongoing that got cancelled extremely fast?

Agreed on that. Through tenacity and sheer dumb luck, I've managed to track down all but two of them and not pay thru my ass to get them. A little lemon juice on the wound of that one; I bought a 3 issue miniseries titled "Revenge of the Green Goblin". The issue ends on a cliffhanger (sorta) and says 'To be concluded in the extra sized ASM 25!!' Which just happens to be one of the two issues I'm missing.

Not sure about the Rogue series to be honest, I didn't even read the issue I had as my typical "way" is to wait for limiteds to be done before I read them, unless it's too tied in (like Civil War) and you're going to miss everything if you don't read them. Still waiting for that DD/Bullseye #2 to hit the stands....

Again with the library checking out:
Fables Vol 8-11
100 Bullets Vol 10-13
The Adventures of Tintin Vol 1-2
Also checked out a Muppets collection for Anarky Jr. Gonna have to start buying the collections soon, since Fables 12 is the last one they have, and they have none of Jack of Fables (which I'm guessing would be a prerequisite for reading Fables Vol 13, since it's a crossover).

20 books this week, and one freebie. DC had a lot of higher priced "anniversary" type books. I decided to drop Batman Inc on a whim today and didn't get issue 5. I've a feeling it will be in dollar bins down the road.
Amazing Spidey 659. Another hilarious hit out of the ballpark by Slott. Spidey and his new Future Foundation pals fight zombie pirates and the FF kids show up. Again, if I could scan panels, the one where the guy is naming the FF incorrectly is why this book is so funny. And Franklin's "What is this, Scooby Doo?" had me giggling. I forgive Marvel for the OMD shit because this book is so much fun again.
Avengers 12.1 Heh. The funniest part was Steve Rogers having no idea who Abigal Brand was and no idea what S.W.O.R.D. is. Then we got some cool fighting with the Intelligencia and Ultron is back. As far as "point One" issues go, this one was pretty good.
Secret Avengers 12. We find out John Steel's "secret history origin". And it's pretty fuckin' boring. Brubaker's last issue. Nick Spencer(Morning Glories, Iron Man 2.0) takes over next month..or rather this month with...
Secret Avengers 12.1. Nick Spencer takes the book in a slightly different direction as the Avengers Black Ops team prevents its Secret Informant files from being leaked to bad guy organizations all over the world. And then fails to protect any of the 400+ people in the files from being murdered. Way to go, team.
Detective Comics 876. Scott Snyder starts a new storyline involving the daughter of Tony Zucco. Snyder's writing is crisp and niorish as befitting the title.
Brightest Day 24. Double sized finale to the series. Swamp Thing is back. Deadman dies again. All the other heroes' stories get wrapped up (or rather they get repleced with new drama that will probably lead to ongoings or minis or whatever). And Hellblazer is on the last page??!
Captain America 617. Bucky is in a Russian Gulag, while Steve, Black Widow, and Sharon Carter figure out a way to extract him legally.
FF 2. Dr. Doom joins the Future Foundation. And they have to fix his brain. Sometimes Reed Richards is a dumbass. But this book is AWESOME. Let no one tell you otherwise.
Flash 11. Some contrived drama bullshit between Barry and Bart as the book attempts to make Barry not be a boring wooden tool. And fails. This book ends next month for Flashpoint. I'm not getting Flashpoint or any of its 500 tie ins.
Green Lantern Emerald Warriors 9. Part Six. haven't read it yet.
Iron Man 503. Tony ends his battle of wits with Doc Ock by groveling for his "master" to prevent a bomb from blowing up NYC. Turns out it wasn't even really a bomb, but Ock got what he wanted. Video of Tony begging like an ass.
Justice League Gen Lost 24. Another double sized finale issue. The team defeats Max Lord's OMAC Prime, and gets Max to reveal that he's still alive to the world. Which he then spins to make look like he's a good guy. And the last page is awesome. Justice League International series, coming soon. So cool. This series was a lot of fun.
Namor 9. Namor has to deal with a treacherous Krang (seriously, why does he keep giving that guy any kind of political power? This is like the 15th time the guy has pulled shit like this. We LEARN from our mistakes Namor...) Anywho, only two issues left anyway since the book is cancelled as of issue 11.
New Mutants 24. The finale of Age of X. Legion realizes one of his personalities has been causing all the shit and removes it. Everybody wakes up from their stupor. A great, fast crossover. We need more X-events like this one.
Action Comics 900. Congratulations on getting to 900 without cheating! Lots of stories written by Paul Cornell, Damon Lindeloff, Richard Donner, Paul Dini, Geoff Johns, David Goyer, etc to celebrate 900 issues of Action.
Thor: Asgard's Avenger oneshot. A handbook style book with a suprising amount of C and D-Listers. You'd think with the movie coming out in 10 days they'd have headlines like Odin, Sif, Loki etc. But no, they've got some real nobodies in this one.
Mighty Thor Saga. Freebie giveaway retelling the high points of Thor's story since the 60's.
Mighty Thor 1. A new number one just in time for the Movie! But as first issues go, this one isn't that great. Galactus is apparently coming to eat Asgard because it has lots of cosmic protein.
Wonder Woman 610. The story continues. Wonder Woman wakes up in a hospital and meets Dr. Etta Candy, Dr. Steve Trevor, and nurse Diana Prince?? The best way to clear up WWs confusing origin is to muddy it up further!!
Axe of X:Universe 2of 2. More tangential tales set in what we now know is a mock univers inside Legion's head. But one where ficticious Avengers sacrifice themselves , and Dr. Strange poses as a mutant bounty hunter seretly helping get mutants to safety.
Uncanny X-Men 536. The Breakworld refugees arrive on Utopia. Colossus argues ideology with his "subjects". The Magneto (being uncharacteristally stupid) gets blinsided. Gillen's run continues to be decent.

Went to the bookstore yesterday because I had an in-store only coupon. I pulled out a bunch of Fables and Jack collections I hadn't read and let my daughter pick.
So, whaddya know, now I have Cinderella: From Fabletown with Love.
