Chux it's time to live my dream for me - open a shop. I will donate 1 kidney & a copy of Maverick #1, circa 1996.

I don't think you're allowed to go in and take whatever you want out of the evidence locker like that, JJ.

They don't even track kidneys. No one will ever know.

In my cart at mycomicshop right now I have near-full runs of Alias & The Pulse for under $2 per issue. I'm thinking of going back & collating Bendis' contributions to the Marvel Universe, and I stupidly left these books off my pull list - even though I was likely buying $100 worth of comics per month back when they were coming out. I love when I check on a whim there and they're blowing out the issues for $1.10 - they might as well be wearing lingerie & holding a cold beer for me at the bedroom door.

Not a "big with a capital B" score, but I just made a huge dent in my AAFES hunt. The AAFES comics are the books only distributed to Armed Forces by Marvel so they aren't available in your local comic shop. They started 10 years ago and released one issue a year, so they're up to #11. And normally, they're on ebay for anywhere from $11 to $50+. I found the first issue at Comic Con a few years ago and lucked in to 3 and 4 at a comic shop last year. Tonight I found a 5, 6, 7, 9, and 11 for a buck apiece. Still missing 2, 8, and 10, but I think I can find 8 and 10 fairly easily. but #2 (Subtitled Pot of Gold) is gonna be a toughie.

Very interesting - are they unique stories or reprints?

They are all new stories and art. At least, the early ones were. They might've started doing reprints, but if they have it's the first I've heard of it. The first eight or nine in the series starred the New Avengers but the latest ones have focused down to Cap and Thor because of the films no doubt.

Cool. Let me know how they pan out.

On ebay today I managed to snag a bunch of Pulse & Alias issues for even cheaper than mycomicshop had them - and I even managed to fill both runs instead of having to miss an issue which was initially the case. I'm hoping the reduction in the size of order will reduce the shipping, elsewise paying 2 shipping charges is going to eat into these savings in a heavy fashion. ><

Is Alias the MAX title?
That was one I thought about picking up the two big trades of.

Yep exactly right. Detailing the story of Jessica Jones, who goes on to marry Luke Cage & have his baby. They have trades and it was also made into an early Omnibus - one of those facking massive Marvel hardcovers that has a bazillion pages and presents the art in much-larger-than-comic-sized scale... but those are unwieldy, I have no room to store them, they are expensive as fuck.... and I still likes me the floppies.

I got a full Alias run a few years ago and was thoroughly impressed. Hope you enjoy it!

Me too. Both the orders are submitted so I guess I can go ahead and brag about what sets will be completed, even though they're not in hand yet (risky business maybe, but ah fuck it):

Alias 1-28 (I had only #1 for whatever reason, still not sure why I wasn't getting these)
Pulse 1-14 (again, I have 1 & 14 but not the middle issues - huh?)
Renumbered Hulk (Byrne/Jones era) 1-112 (only needed #25 which was a bitch to finally track down for a price I was willing to spend)
Cap Reborn 1-6 (needed 2-6)
Hulk Gray 1-6 (needed 3-6)
FF 1234 1-4 (needed 2,3)
GI Joe Cobra 1-4 (needed 3)
Marvels: Eye of the Camera 1-6 (needed 6)
Punisher (Max) 1-75
Sandman Dream Hunters 1-4 (needed 3)
Spider-Man's Tangled Web 1-21
Thor Godstorm 1-4 (needed 3)
Scarlet Spider (2 insert issues, needed #2)
Web of Scarlet Spider (2 insert issues, needed #1)

So yeah, it seems like every time I quit WoW I need to spend over $100 in back issue comics. I'm thinking Lone Star will be sad if I've managed to quit for good this time. ><

I'm still missing two issues of that Hulk series. 8 and 24. 8 is going to be the fucker for me. It was underordered and has Wolverine in it.

Ah all in good time. I waited and waited on that 25, seeing it at prices of $25 for years. I decided to check again on a whim this time & it was in stock (VF quality only, so hopefully it won't look like shit when I get it) for $8. With all the $1.10 and even $.90 issues I was ordering I figured it would all come out in the wash.
