What's new in the Marvel U?
Well, they brought back Bucky as a villain in Captain America. What a suckass story concept.
The House of M crossover looks intriguing. Bendis of course kicks ass. If I had to cut back to only two Marvel books a month it would be Astonishing X-Men and New Avengers.
Peter David dropped the ball with his return to Hulk so I'm dropping that (except it may get a repreive for three issues with the House of M crossover)
JMS gets FF rockin' again. Ben Grimm photocopying his big orange rocky ass was hilarious.

Dead sidekick brought back as a villain. Hmm. That sounds vaguely familiar.

Yeah, and vaguely shit-tastic.

Hey, what do you expect? Captain America is, has always been, and always will be a tool!

Does Cap even have his own book right now? I'm pretty sure Thor doesn't, but don't know if Cap got axed or not (I stopped buying them at around issue 20 of the MK vintage).
I don't think Cap sucks, I just think he's an old fuddy duddy. He's a little boring, but the perfect foil for Spidey humour. I like New Avengers so far as well (though I'm only up to #4 or #5, can't recall which).
Anyone else a little disappointed with the ending of the ASM story arc with the new metal-skinned guy? I thought that was ticking along nicely, but kind of Petered out (sorry), much like the story of the Stacey Twins did a few months ago. Why can't Stracynski use villains?
Speaking of JMS, I didn't know he was taking over on FF. I might have to go track that down.

Here I am again, doing the double-post deal.
Ever wonder why you make certain decisions about which comics to buy? I'm thinking of one tonight, as I sit and read a few issues of Daredevil from last year - the last few that I bought before I dropped the book. I'm up to #62 now, Black Widow has come back after Millia had her and Matt's wedding anulled. It's so fucking GOOD, the art, the stories..... Bendis actually able to handle the characters properly.... it's just so fucking GOOD. But I dropped it, and kept Hulk instead. Now, with Peter David back I'm sure Hulk will be fine, but Daredevil was just so fucking GOOD. What was I thinking? It's like $4 a month..... and now I have to go back and chase about 10 issues to catch up.

In hindsight, if I had to choose Hulk or Daredevil last year, I would definitely choose DD. Peter David's first story arc sucked, except for the flashbacks where puny teenage Banner is talking to his imagianry mean, green friend. I will hate to see Bendis leave DD.
The new Captain America book is exceptionally good, beyond the taboo subject of bringing Bucky back as a cyborg assassin for the Russian mafia. Next Uncle BEn will be popping up as an evil alien hybrid monster over in ASM. Icky.
Iron Man makes my head hurt. This is especially sad, since Shellhead was my fave back in the Layton/Michelinie years. Armor Wars kicked ass.
Thor is indeed currently titleless, but I've a hunch that House of M will be bringing the Asgardians back and rumors of a Neil Gaiman penned ongoing series abound. There was a Beta Ray Bill limites series that just completely disintegrated by the last issue, and left Bill trapped on Earth in the body of a homeless man (don't ask).

For me it's the decimation of Thor that hurts - I was a big fan back in the Walt Simonson era and it's gone so far off the rails since then it's scary. Neil Gaiman could do it, but I would thought he'd want to do Silver Surfer or Dr. Strange, more mystical stuff for some reason. There stands to be a dose of that in Thor, tough, with Loki and the Enchantress lurking about.

It was that long, hard DeFalco/Frenz era that did me in. I kept liking it a little bit less each issue, but I bought it month after month after month until I gave up comics altogether and looked back and realized what a ridiculously long shitty streak those two heaped on that book.

Well I picked up comics the other day, and lo and behold there was a new Dr. Strange book on the shelf, written by JMS - and already up to issue 6 (or was it 7?). Too bad I missed the boat on that.
Finished off the Hulk story, it was okay. I was so relieved that they weren't erasing everything Jones did, that the rest of the story seemed pretty cool. Wonder if they're going to do anything else with the Betty that climbed out of the water onto the island at the end of #81. Good thing I've got #82 here to read......
Haven't tapped into House of M 1 and 2 yet, though I'll get to that right after I finish up New Avengers #6.

been reading "strange" - pretty cool. a re-telling of his origin, basically. now he's a MK character.

And thus extra "dark" and "cool". Marketing is stupid sometimes - not that I don't think Dr. Strange is fit for MK, it's just that the publishers think that WE think the MK is for extra dark and cool, which is kind of stupid. Or not.

If they really wanted to increase sales, they wouoldn't bother trying to make already dark/cool characters dark and cool ( ie Daredevil, Wolverine etc) and instead concentrate on making laughable characters like Power Pack dark and cool by releasing new series under the MK banner.
Marvel Knights Quasar. Yeah! I'd buy that shit up, yo.
