Many Loves of the Amazing Spider-man 1

Spider-man: Fever 2
Ultimate Comics New Ultimates 2 (i don't really know how this ties into 'ultimate comics avengers'... they're not trying too hard to do so)

Picked up stuff from the last week or two:

Punisher #16 - the final issue, as it ain't bein' being published anymore (under this title).

The Boys #42

Batman & Robin #10 and #12 - Somehow I missed issue 10 and realized it when I finally started reading 11 and had no clue what the fuck was going on.

Gotham City Sirens #11

Green Hornet #3

Star Wars Legacy #47
- only 3 issues left.

iZombie #1 - New Vertigo series and the first issue was only $1 and it was zombies. Nice art by Michael "Madman" Allred and a good premise, but the actual dialogue isn't all that great, just so-so. Don't like the title either. Why not "I, Zombie" rather than sounding like and Mac fan?

Oops. I also picked up Astonishing Spidey/Wolvie (ASW). With this new $3.99 policy Marvel has I give books exactly ONE issue to wow my socks off. Before I would give them the first story arc (which would ultimately net them at least $18 of my money) but if they're gonna play hardball, then so am I. At any rate, this one didn't pass muster. I'll read it out of the quarter bins at the next Comic Convention I go to.

5/12/10 was a BIG week

Siege 4 The end of an era. Everything since Disassembled wayyyy back in 2003 comes to an end here.
Siege Embedded 4 More of the end of Siege from Ben urich's POV.
Sentry: Fallen Sun Epilogue Paul Jenkins gives the eulogy to his creation in this One Shot.
Dark Avengers 16 Final issue. I enjoyed Steve's talk with Victoria Hand. And the final pages with Osborn were great.
Avengers Initiative 35 Yet another final issue. Sets the stage for Avengers Academy.
New Avengers Finale Dear Lord, yet ANOTHER final issue.
Amazing Spidey 631 haven't read it yet
Batman 699 Tony Daniel is an alright artist, but a mediocre writer.
Batman:Return of Bruce Wayne 1 haven't read it yet
Birds of Prey 1 haven't read it yet
Daredevil: Cage Match 1shot. Look back at early days of Luke Cage and DD. This week's Continuity Pet Peeve #1 : Foggy did NOT know Matt's secret ID back then.
Flash 2 haven't read it yet
Justice League: Generation Lost 1 haven't read it yet
Marvels Project 8 This week's Continuity Pet Peeve #2: If Brubaker had bothered to do any research on Golden Age hero Dr Thomas "The Angel" Halloway, he would know Halloway would eventually grow frustrated with the criminal element and start the Super-villain killing organization know as "Scourge" who was (were) responsible for several dozen murders in the early 80's and he was eventually revealed in the USAgent mini series in the 90s. Honestly, that ending ruined the much of the series for me.
New Mutants 13 Second Coming continues. Cyclops blowing Donald Pierce away mid-rant was sweet. Nobody fucks with Scott Summers. Badass.
Punisher MAX 7 haven't read it yet, but at least its not the regular 616 fuckup Frank Castle.
Titans:Villains for Hire haven't read it yet, but I'm a sucker for anything with Deathstroke being a badass.
Transformers: Ironhide 1 Suprisingly good book with wonderful art by Casey Coller.
Web of Spider-Man 8 haven't read it yet
Wolverine 900 haven't read it yet.

So what the hell has been happening in the Marvel 616?
The closest I get to it is Daredevil and (until now) The Punisher, which are oretty much in their own little corners of the 616.

I'll summarize in the 'Marvel' Topic as best I can.

Caught up on most of the rest of this weeks reading.

Return of Bruce Wayne. So, Grant Morrison basially writes to entertain himself and if the readers can't understand, no worries. Because DC already paid Grant a shit ton of money and entertaining readers is incidental.

Birds of Prey. A good enough start. Although I hope that's not Cassie in the White Canary outfit.

Flash. Why did they bring back Barry Allen? Is there a more boring character in all of comicdom? Worked significantly better as a martyr.

Titans: Villains for Hire OneShot. Wow. Not only will I not be buying this series, I won't buy anything by this writer ever. Atrocious.

Web of Spider-Man. Comic Pet Peeve #3. Okay, Peter Parker is a genius. he's also gone to grad school AND had a job as a high school science teacher. And you're telling me his gets befuddled when the temp agency lady mentions Word and Excel to him? What the fuck? THEN, this allegedly computer illiterate person whips up a website in a manner of minutes? Aside from that BS completely taking me out of the book, it was an entertaining story with a intriguing new villain and good use of supporting cast. I was considering dropping this book because of the $3.99 price but now I may keep it around for a few more issues.

okay, admittedly i actually dropped WOSv2 - but he's befuddled how? like he's never heard of them, or just that he doesn't know how to use them very well? because literally, i can code the shit out of a website and excel is like a foreign fucking language to me.

Panel 1
Temp Lady: Peter Palmer?
Peter: Parker.
TL: Palmer Parker?

Panel 2
TL: The skills test is forty-five minutes long. It'll give us an idea of your competency before we put you in rotation for temp positions. You'll be quizzed on Word...

Panel 3
Peter: Uh--sorry...What do you mean? Like, do I know, words..?
TL: No...The software program. You've heard of Excel?

Panel 4
Peter: I've...heard it's a verb.
TL: Power Point?
Peter: The new energy bar?
TL: Mr. Parker...when's the last time you had a real job?

Panel 5
Peter: Well my Uncle Ben once had me selling "Grit" in my neighborhood. It was a newspaper that only seemed to advertise in comic books which I never understood...pretty sure it was a maggia front...
And so on and so forth.

Obviously it was played for witty banter and a joke in the book. I like Fred VanLente, so aside from that I gave the book a 'yes' vote.

But for anyone who doesn't read Spider-Man on a regular basis, the reason Peter is Jobless is because he got FIRED for faking photos. This is the same exact thing Peter jumped down Eddie Brocks throat for that led him to being fired and disgraced as a photojournalist and turning into Venom. Marvel's character assassination of Spider-Man continues.

to save JJJ's job, to boot.

in the movies, maybe, but in the comics he was ruined when duped into publishing an interview with a man who claims to be the sin-eater. he's proven wrong when spidey catches the real sin-eater, and the man brock interviewed ended up being a compulsive confessor. he hates spider-man and blames him for his career being ruined. it's only after he bonds with the symbiote that he learns spidey's secret identity and, hoping to keep the symbiote satisfied with brock as a host, decides to kill peter parker and his family.

The week of 5/19/10

Avengers Assemble Handbook of the Marvel Universe style encyclopedia. I thought from the cover it would be not unlike a guide to all the new players and teams updated. As it turns out, its a collection of D-listers or worse than they never gat around to in the regular Handbooks. Seriously, guys like the Voice and Myron Maclain have entries.
Avengers #1 The Heroic Age begins and Steve Rogers picks the new Avengers team just in time to fight Kang. Typical Bendis jabbering amongst the main guys. I liked it.
Brightest Day 2 A decent book, although nothing shocking or amazing. (Unless you count an undercover White Martain brutally killing her family as they play RockStar or something on the XBox)
Deathlok 7 This series was a letdown. I didn't realize I didn't like it until the fifth issue and then I said 'wellp, might as well get the last two....'
GIJoe 18 Awesome issue where CoverGirl, Tripwire and Downtown get ambushed by Cobra while armed only with paintball guns on a training excercise. The rest of their squad all get KIA. Classic Joe action. Very exciting read.
Iron Man 26 didn't read it yet, but the first 25 issues have been Amazingly Awesome with two capital 'A's
Justice League of America 45 Huh. I don't think James Robinson read the last issue of Blackest Night when Geoff Johns brought Jade back to life, because this book has also brought her "back to life" in a completely different way. DC Comics = Team Fuck-up.
Legacies 1 A mini series from DC about thier "Legacy" characters from the Golden Age up to modern times. Sounded interesting.
Rescue One Shot haven't read it yet. In case you didn't know Rescue is Pepper Potts in her very own Iron (wo)Man armor. Intorduced in the previously mentioned above Amazingly Awesome Iron Man run. If you had said "Pepper Potts in Iron Man armor" to me and I hadn't read Fraction's run on Iron Man, I would drink some soda just so I could spit it at you.
Transformers: Last Stand of the Wreckers 5 I missed the first two issues so I was hopelessly lost and then all the characters died in this final issue anyway. Including Topspin and TwinTwist. Those guys get NO love in any TF continuity.
X-Factor 205 Second Coming continues as Bastion tries to kill Madrox and his goofy team of Mutants.
X-Men Legacy 236 Second Coming continues as Bastion tries to trap all of San Francisco in a giant kickball, and then sends Nimrods to kill the X-Men. Yup. A big red ball. Looks like somebody is a big JJAbrams fan. (You know, because a big red ball showed up in Alias, and then again in Star Trek? Man has a hard-on for big red balls. All I'm sayin')

Springer is on life support and Impactor(?) survived. I think. Like I said, I missed the beginning. Plus, a bunch of them were guys I had never heard of.

But Kup? Hell, Verity? Fort Max? Grimlock?

I said it before, I'll say it again: Fuck IDW. They'd better not pull this shit with GIJoe.
