As to the DVR question: yeah, you'll still have them recorded after the free time.
The Batwing part is one of the scenes I had in mind.

Still, it's a better BATMAN movie than the second and third films in the Batman Begins series. Not meaning it's a better movie, but it's truer to Batman, even with the liberties it takes. Batman Begins has it pretty stomped, though.

Is the preview over? It'd be smart of them to have one of those preview weekends, and show all the episodes possible of their popular shows that are still ongoing. Get people hooked. If someone had free HBO for a weekend and HBO aired a marathon of Boardwalk Empire during that time, that person would be subscribing immediately. Unless they were a Nazi. Then they'd be too busy loading Jews on trains, or something like that. Fucking Nazi assholes.

Batman Returns is better as both, i think.

Yes, the preview is over. Typically, it lasts Friday to Sunday night. I think they do it 4 times a year. The last one was back in November. I didn't see Boardwalk Empire on this time around. You would think the providers would show their A-List movies and not turds like the Matthew Broderick version of Godzilla. Not sure if I mentioned it earlier, but I saw most of John Carter.

Because Christopher Walken is in it?

Silver Linings Playbook. A really great film about being crazy, football, and ballroom dancing. A smart cast with lots of great performances. Not sure if it tops my Oscar pics, but it's definitely high on the list.

Thomas and the Magic Railway. Holy shit. This is a fucking load of steaming diarrhea. I know the show is a bit surreal, but this was made by people who thought it was too sensical. Also, the show is simplistic (train gets job, train gets vain or distracted, train fucks up job, train learns lesson and apologizes, everything is right in the world), and this movie made no sense. I, a 30-something college graduate who majored in English literature, for God's sake, could barely make heads or tails of what the fuck was going on. Apparently, the American show takes place in our world, only Mr. Conductor (be it Ringo, Carlin, or Alec Baldwin) is only three inches tall. He goes to Sodor, where a murderous diesel train (and, yes, I said "murderous"--the first thing he says is that he wants to kill the steam trains, no shit) is causing trouble. Peter Fonda, in a role so depressing I challenge you to watch it and not contemplate suicide at least once, is protecting a magic train that he's hidden in our world, where the trains don't have faces and can't talk. Oh, this train is the magic one that keeps all the others alive with her very existence. Just, fuck, I don't want to go into any more detail. I still have a fucking headache from trying to follow it.

The "normal" Thomas movies all deserve fucking Nobel Prizes in comparison to this shit. I don't care there's no cinematic Nobe Prize. They need to make one.

I don't feel bad for anybody that has Firefly sitting on their shelf unopened and watches a shitty Thomas the Train movie instead. That's karma, bitch.

Robin and Marian was on TV tonight. I hadn't seen it since I was probably eight years old. Holy shit, there's a lot of great actors in it! Richard Harris as Richard the Lionhearted. Ian Holm as Prince John. Denholm "Marcus Brody" Elliot as Will Scarlett. Nicol "Merlin" Williamson as Little John. And Robert Shaw as the Sheriff of Nottingham. And the most extraordinary part is that Richard Lester directed it! And it didn't suck like Superman II!! Anyway, Sean Connery as Robin Hood is always badass. And 007 gets a rematch with Red Grant.

Trouble With The Curve - Clint Eastwood plays a zombie who scouts for the Braves (seroiusly, the guy may still be a badass, but he looks like shit). Amy Adams plays his smoking hot lawyer daughter who tries to reconnect with him and help save his job. Justin Timberlake just wants to fuck her.
Nothing too special, but I guess it would be a good date night movie or something, since it has baseball and romance and shit.

I get Amy Adams and Isla Fisher mixed up. To straighten this out, they should both come to my house and get naked until I get it right.

Well, you get a toddler to sit through Firefly, or at least behave enough so you can actually pay attention to it. He's finally settling back into a routine, though, so I have an hour or two at a time to watch.

Mrs. Anarky queued up Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan. She remembered it as being a good movie. She's not sure why. It blows. It's like someone was wondering if they could make a movie starring Christopher Lambert and featuring both Deep Roy and that dude who plays Jacques laFleur in Harry & The Hendersons, yet purposefully make it not awesome. He succeeded, in spades. Word is Deep Roy beat the shit out of the director for fucking up his impeccable track record. Christopher Lambert had to make Highlander extra bizarrely awesome to make up for this shit.

Saw Gangster Squad today. Not awful, but not great either, considering the pedigree of the cast. And I couldn't stop chuckling through the ending because I always thought Mickey Cohen got sent up for tax evasion. But apparently he got 25 years for murder after a big shoot out at a swanky Hotel that ended with a fistfight between him and Josh Brolin's cop character. Who knew?
You're better off rewatching LA Confidential.

That's disappointing. The extended wait for it had really made me look forward to it. :(

The extended wait had to do with reshoots. Apparrently the studio thought people would be uncomfortable with a shootouts in a movie theater.
I've also heard its essentially LA Confidential, but worse.
