Annnnnd... stopped by Ross on a lark this evening. At some point since last night, they put out Resolute sets!
Why the hell did they, on an online exclusive based on an adult-oriented Joe cartoon, give them the most insanely garishly colored weapons ever made?

They had leftover batches of plastic they needed to use on something. Don Pelchek in logistics suggested GIJoe guns. He got a fat bonus that's as much as your total household income for the year. He invested most of it in real estate and the rest he blew on underage hookers in Thailand on a year end bender.

I haven't found the resolute sets yet. Zartan and Destro look cool, but the rest either suck or I just don't need, so I'll pass on that one. I think I am going to get the Joe set. I already have Quick Kick and Spirit.

Y'know.... I wouldn't mind army-building the Alley Viper and Firefly (since he don't look like Firefly). The Baroness, Cobra Commander, and Storm Shadow have some custom potential. Would you be up for splitting a Cobra set if one of us finds another?

Sure. Zartan and Destro for me. The rest for you.

Same Ross today (Mrs A needed some stuff for her baking and I volunteered to go into the world, knowing stores sell and replenish a ton of toys this week). They had Quick Kick and Spirit. The line was fucking long, though, so I passed. Forgot how mediocre that Quick Kick was, and I guess I'd mixed him up with Spirit in the "shit ton of awesome accessories" department, because he only has a couple and they are ho-hum aside from his gloves. If they're still there when the crowds die down next week, I might bite. I got Spirit to make a custom Kwinn (Arctic version, not the jungle fatigues version Hasbro is finally making soon), and the figure's nice enough that I wouldn't mind one to keep as-is.

Went to 2 Ross stores today. First one didn't have anything new. The one by my house had the Joe Resolute set, but the line was half way across the store. At that point, I realized I didn't want it that bad, so I put it back and left.
They must have used a Strawberry Shortcake mold for that Scarlet because her head was way too big.

The stuff that's hitting now should still be showing up for at least a few weeks afterward.

After seeing it in person, if I see it again, great. If not, I won't be upset. Its not like I really need any of them. I'm more interested in Lifeline, Airtight, Law & Order, & Sci-Fi.

I
must have that Cobra Trooper! The Cobra Commander looks like he'll make a sweet Cobra General or something, too. Very nice-looking figures, even acknowledging that Hasbro has certainly PhotoShopped these images.

Yes, they are decent looking figures. Cobra Commander looks like he came from the future. Cobra Trooper sort of looks like the guys from Killzone. GI Joe trooper looks sort of like Halo. My favorite is the Red Ninja. And is it just me, or is Zartan a zombie? Zartan also looks like he is missing a belt or something.
Oh, and some of the figures from the new wave were available at TRU's web site last night. Right before I found that out, I realized the school sent in my GI Bill paperwork to the VA late, so money is going to temporarily be tight.

That Cobra Commander looks great. I'm half tempted to pick one up when they come out.

Hiss Tank Scout and Cycle Armor are showing up at Ross. I've only seen a couple bad pictures of either, but I think I'll skip these.

Dammit.
I resorted to Canadian vynsaniacs to get those.
If the HISS Scout is like the pics, I'd get one and a Crimson HISS if I were you.

I have the black version of the HISS, so I doubt I'll get the Crimson version.
