small week, and a big discount so i ended up splurging on stuff i was sort-of interested in (wednesday comics):

Sinister Spider-man #2
Wednesday Comics #1
Wednesday Comics #2
Wednesday Comics #3
Wednesday Comics #4

i paid a total of $2.27 for all of those, so i feel okay with it. i'm mainly in it for the gaiman/allred metamorpho story. i lurves me some allred art.

No. Fucking. Way.

That could redeem the giant clusterfuck that is Legacy.

They're pretty much relegated to the background, but they're there.

What the fuck? Tell me that caption was PhotoShopped in. I'm sure it was, but tell me anyway.

Of course. And now that I think about it, I should've put "Master Buh't Seks."

What's really quite pathetic is that two different giant green rabbits and a speech bubble saying "Gay Butt Sex!" actually lend this comic some sorely-needed legitimacy. I can't believe you're still buying it.

jeez... that shit is sad.

BPRD: 1947 #2
Hellboy: The Wild Hunt 5
Fables 87
The Walking Dead 64
Amazing Spider-man 602
Ultimate Comics: The Avengers 1
Ultimate Comics: Spider-man 1

glad to see 'the wild hunt' back from hiatus, though i'd have appreciated it they had spread out their mignolaverse titles so that i don't get two in one week and then nothing for a month... and, no, i didn't spring for the 'foilogram' ultimate comics covers...

forgot to expound upon my bad comic store experience on wednesday, though i mentioned it on twit/face.

first off, i ended up taking a personal day on wed. to take care of a MAJOR flea problem we're having. we sprayed the entire house with the flea killer stuff, took all fabric to the laundromat and still saw the little bastards. like, a lot of them. so we did the entire spray thing again on wed, and had to leave the house for a couple of hours to let the spray kick in. we decided to drive up to red robin for lunch, which is about 20 mins away from a comic book store that i've only been to a handful of times.

as you can see above, my list contains almost as many mainstream books as it does 'indie' stuff (though i wouldn't really consider image, vertigo or dark horse 'indie', some stores still do.) it turns out that this particular store didn't order hellboy, bprd, fables, or the walking dead. this astounds me. at that time, i wasn't even really interested in the new relaunched 'ultimate' line, so basically i drove an extra 40 mins out of my way (20 each way, past the red robin, and back again) to stand there dumbfounded by their system (new books are alphabetized in with the previous few weeks, unmarked - i mean, they have a plexiglass shield in front of each stack, you could slap a 'new this week!' sticker on there and be done with it...) just to pick up the one title they have that i want (which, had i not been late to renew my subscription, would've been in the mail). i stood there for a good 15 mins while the guy behind the counter talked to and rang up TWO CUSTOMERS, and finally just walked out. i had my daughter with me, so you KNOW she would've gotten a comic if the guy had acknowledged my existence.

when i went to my NYC store yesterday, i ended up getting all the books above, which included both the new ultimate comics relaunches, so had i received the customer service i was looking for at the store upstate, he might've gotten that money, as well. but never again will i even consider going there. they must be doing alright, and if they're making money on straight-up marvel/dc fare, more power to them... it just sucks that they have the equivalent of the music selection at walmart in comparison to midtown comics which is more like the tower records of comic stores. maybe i'm just spoiled, but if that's what other stores are like, man, they can go out of business for all i care.

Unfortunately, that is what most comic stores are like. Maybe not the rudeness, but the total lack of anything aside from Marvel and DC.

This place really sounds like a store in a mall about an hour from here. They keep their new books in this totally bizarre order, along with the rest of the month's, and they're all in polybags. They have signs all over saying that anyone removing a book from the bag will be charged for the book and/or banned from the store. (I can understand where they're coming from to an extent, but no need to be obnoxious about it.) And the employees ignore you, even if they're doing absolutely nothing (not even texting or listening to an iPod).

But, yeah, most stores are like that. That's why, as much as I'd love to go to a comic shop regularly, I get trades online.

Man, that sucks. I hate dickhead comic shop owners.

My LCS is great in the customer service area, but my only problem is that it's so small.
Bay City isn't that big of a city so he can't really risk ordering a bunch of smaller titles and end up getting stuck with them, so if there is a particular indie or smaller big book I have to make sure I tell him to order it for me. So I can get a smaller book, but never on impulse.

There is another comic shop maybe a mile away but I've never been in there (LCS loyalty), but from the outside it looks much bigger and sells quite a bit more than comics ("nerd" games, dvds, cards, ect.). I've also heard some bad things about the other place, like inconsistent hours, not nearly as friendly, ect. I've even heard they were going out of business a few times, but so far they're still open.

I was loyal to one store that had awesome service, but was small and isolated, and went under. The few shops within an hour of me are all owned by dickweeds. My "favorite" is the one that will lie to you about not getting a hot new title in their shipment, then will have several dozen copies three days later at an inflated price.
