Started building the Medieval Blacksmith set and it was missing a piece(I think I’ve had that happen like three or four times in all my years of building Legos) so while I’m waiting for the piece to be shipped from Denmark, I pivoted and opened up
OPTIMUS PRIME. Holy shit, the detail in comparison to the original G1 figure is astounding. Even building his Ion Blaster was a nostalgia trip. The weapon also subtly attaches to his forearm while maintaining the illusion it’s in his hand without putting all the weight on the wrist. And in vehicle mode, the weapon stores on the back of the truck, which is a nice addition. This set was so much fun. Even if it hadn’t Transformed, I would’ve been delighted. Then they threw in extra cool stuff, like Sideswipe’s jet pack from the original cartoon, an energon cube, and his energon axe. And also a display/tech spec in case you have no idea who Prime is. My only quibble is that his entire upper body is supported solely by a turntable element that lets you spin him during the transformation. It’s a lot of weight on just 16 studs.

The five finalists from series 2 got posted on
Bricklink.
Ominous Island was one I was hoping made the cut. I wanted one or more of the sailing ships also because we haven’t had a decent ship since the Imperial Flagship, but none of them were picked.
The train station looks dope as well.
The Mushroom and Beach houses are okay.
The only one I thought was meh was the train set, only because it looks like 2/3rds of the bricks are for the trestle. I wouldn’t want to pay for all those extra bricks that you can’t even connect to your other tracks because of the height difference.

Was at WM this afternoon and picked up the 1989 Batmobile set. It was a pretty quick build.
Not sure how similar it is to the freebie version they gave away when you bought the super expensive detailed version from a few years ago.
It will be a nice companion piece to my 1966 Batmobile. Do I want to go find a Tumbler and the newest muscle car version to have a ‘Batcave’ full of cars? I don’t know.

At the end of a very long(fun, memorable, enjoyable perfect day, but still long) my wife(WIFE!! haha. Yay!) after we had decompressed and got out of our costumes and into comfy clothes, pulled out a gift for me and for her(I was not aware giving your partner a gift on the wedding day was a thing. Now I feel foolish. I did not get her anything.)
It was these little Lego sets she had ordered from Australia. (I had seen the box from AUS and asked her at the time what it was, but she expertly deflected at that time and I thought nothing of it and completely forgot about it until last night.)
There were several small freebie sets released last year that were little coin operated Adventure Rides. There was a Dragon set with a little knight riding it. And a pirate ship with a little pirate riding. But the other two weren’t released in the US.
One’s a little rocket with a Space Guy, and the other is a Magic Rainbow Unicorn with a little girl.
She got them for us(me, let’s be honest here). She’s a keeper.

I have that one also. Built it, but I don’t know which bin it’s in down in the basement.
They had a BrickCon Lego Fan Event at the fairgrounds this weekend. First time we’ve had something like that in town.
It was $30 to get the wife and I in. There were some cool MOC displays by a few guys, and quite a few vendors selling old sets and LOTS of minifigs, both custom and rare loose legit figs.
I bought a buildable Deadpool logo. And overpaid for a few minifigs. But I finished off my Wizard of Oz crew, and found a Zan & Jayna from some old Batman series.
We had a good time.

Rumor has it the new Marvel modular set to go alongside the Daily Bugle and Sanctum Sanctorum is a $500+ Avengers Tower set.
I think a Fogwell’s Gym on the ground floor with Nelson & Murdock and Alias Investigations on the upper levels would be a cool modular set to have. Taking inspiration from the actual comics instead of the MCU in general would be cooler. Get me a classic Avengers Mansion, or the Baxter Building. How about a Heroes for Hire office, with Iron Fist’s dojo upstairs? Castle Doom would be pretty dope. Or a Latverian Embassy to fit in with the city modular motif.

holy shit! it's huge!
and expensive!

it comes with a Kevin Feige minifig! i love it. the modular Sanctum Sanctorum is the only one i currently have. still need the Daily Bugle. for the record, the Daily Bugle set is not inspired by the MCU.
i love your ideas though.

Next year’s Modular is actually this year’s modular, as it’s being released on Dec 1st rather than Jan 1st like usual.
It’s an impressively large Natural History Museum with exhibits focused on the ‘past’ with a large two story dino skeleton and assorted past eras with some knights and ships paraphernalia. (The pics show little, but pausing the 30 second video in the right spots shows micro builds of famous classic sets like the yellow castle, and a pirate ship! Nice!)And a second exhibit on the ‘future’ with rockets and a model solar system(and a micro build of a classic space set) One of the minifigs is a handicapable with an artificial leg. Not sure if that’s a first or not, but I’ve not seen it before. Cool.
A hefty $299 price tag, but the size is bigger than normal, comparable in size to the retiring soon Assembly Square.
Edit. Nevermind. They changed the release date to a non-specific placeholder “date”
