Re: Marvel Universe
Agents of Atlas. The 6 issue mini from 2006 has SHIELD Agent Jimmy Woo teaming up with his 1950s super team, and taking over the Yellow Claw's evil empire. So it's a team of good guys posing as bad guys. Venus walks around topless for most of the series. And Ken Hale, Gorilla Man is a hoot. Very fun series. I can see how it has achieved cult status and Marvel has tried several times to revive the series since. If you can find the TPB, I say check it out.

I do not know the name, so I do not know if you're saying that in a "why the hell does this guy get work" sort of way, or a "why does someone who's so good stoop to such a level" sort of way.

Re: Marvel Universe
Gotcha.
Even without knowing the talent involved, I'm trying to wrap my head around why Marvel would produce comics that are ads. Not comics that are essentially ads, like Transformers or ROM or any movie adaptation they've ever done, or, hell, even NFL Superpro, but comics that are actually ads. Seems like someone else would be better-suited to doing that. And a waste of talent; I can't imagine this is going to sell like hotcakes.

Re: Marvel Universe
Does she team up with Betty Crocker Lass, and then the two of them kick off their shoes and get their little keesters back in the 1950s kitchen?
Speaking of full blown Ads, Marvel had a Harley-Davidson freebie issue on Comixology a couple weeks back. The Avengers show up on Harleys in Bosnia or someplace and kick badguy ass. On Harleys!! Harleys were instrumental in the ass kickery. They couldn't have kicked the ass without the bikes, that much was clear.

Re: Marvel Universe
I skipped over some Annihilation books, some Antman, and Aquaman and went on to
Araña A 12 issue ongoing from 2005 featuring the newest "Spider-Girl. Agent of the Spider Clan and their millennium long fight with the Sisterhood of the Wasp. Spunky little heroine, but ultimately it didn't go anywhere.
Then I moved on to Dark Avengers: Ares. 3 issue mini has Osborn making Ares the Drill Instructor of HAMMER and recruiting a Special Ops team. It doesn't end well for them. But the read was good. Written by Keiron Gillen.
Also Savage Axe of Ares. Another one of those B/W retro 70s style oneshots I've mentioned. This time featuring several short stories about Ares. All of them good to great.

Re: Marvel Universe
Went Oldschool with the 1973 Astonishing Tales series. Only have 17 onwards.
17-20 was the latest of the KaZar issues before he got his own series(which I believe lasted a very short time). KZ is fighting his brother, Lord Plunder, a villain named Gemini(who is two brothers, one a cop, the other a criminal who unknowingly merge and make a guy "twice as fast, smart, strong" etc. Also a villain named Victorius, who successfully recreated the Super Soldier Serum! He had a Roman gladiator fetish Whatever happened to this guy and why hasn't Brubaker yanked him from obscurity? Nick Fury was in a bunch of the issues, as was Bobbi Morton, pre-Mockingbird! She was totally wet for KaZar.
Then issues 21-24 had It! the Living Colossus! Holy shit, 70s Marvel was fucking trippy! This TV effects guy gets his spine shattered and ends up putting his conscience in a 30 Ft tall stone creature some aliens left behind that's bein used as a prop on the shitty TV show he's working on. Then Gargoyles from the planet Stonus-5 attack, led by their leader Granitor! Then there's this other evil scientist Dr. Vault who's dying and wanted the Colossus for himself, instead he digs up FIN FANG FOOM(I looked, this was FFFs 2nd appearance. He'd appeared 3 other times, but the 2nd and 3rd were just reprints of his first app). But Foomy shakes off the evil Dr's control and he and It! whup invading gargoyle army ass!(this was before Foom got retconned as an Alien Invader himself). In the final issue the Dr controlled Foom gets into a kungfu fight with It! in downtown LA. Holy Fuck, 70s Marvel was awesome.
I'm also happy to note, except for his first couple appearances, I have every It! Issue between 1973 and 2010. All six of them.
Next up is Deathlok's 1st appearance.

Re: Marvel Universe
Goddamn you, Marvel Value Stamps.
My Astonishing Tales 25, 1st Appearance of Deathlok has a fucking hole in the letters page. So does issue 27. I blame Roy Thomas or Len Wein or whoever was EiC at the time. What kinda fucknut encourages readers to cut up their comics? What kinda fucknut actually cuts up their comics?? Somehow this is all that bitch, Sarah Palin's fault.

Re: Marvel Universe
I have two copies of Iron Fist's second appearance. The first, I got screwed badly, and it's missing the centerfold pages. (I got it out of town and couldn't easily drive six hours to bitch out the store owner.) The second, the stamp was cut out.
