"No Tom Foolery today, Ron. I'm tired of looking at your dreadful, speckled mug."
"Why do you hurt me in this way, Harry?"

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy - As funny as ever, but its no Step Brothers. Even though she has a few funny moments, I actually think Christina Applegate drags the movie down a bit.
Cedar Rapids - Just ok. Not as funny as the previews made it look.
National Lampoon's Vacation - Holds up well, but I can't see why people are so up in arms about the recent talk of a possible remake. They can make it different enough. And for all I care, they don't even have to be the Griswolds (the probably shouldn't be actually). Although I think the chatter was that the remake was really a sequel with an adult Rusty taking his family on vacation, which could be cool so we could get a bit of Chevy as Clark in there.
The Muppets - Overall, it was a very fun flick, but I think they missed the mark in a few spots.
Major League - My traditional spring viewing. The worker they show a few times that says "Who are these fuckin' guys?" and "These guys ain't so fuckin' bad." and so on, then later hugs the "punk" in the bar when everyone in the city goes apeshit is Neil Flynn AKA Janitor from Scrubs!
American Pie - The spots for Reunion has made me want to rewatch the AP trilogy. I got all nostalgic and shit for the late 90s.

Return to Lonesome Dove. Sequel to the original. Not as good(but really, what could be? Lonesome Dove is the greatest Western ever) as the original, but decent performances by all. A very young Reese Witherspoon is in it, as well as Oliver Reed, a Dennis Haysbert as the villain.
Shane. The Classic Western. Doesn't hold up well. Damn, Brandon DeWilde is annoying. And cross eyed.
Men in Black and The Matrix. The boy hadn't seen either one, so I had to educate him. Still trying to get him to watch Aliens.

How old is he? Just seeing if I should call CPS because you're trying to get him to watch Aliens.

He's nine.
I wouldn't have a problem, except his sister convinced him it's the scariest movie of all time. He won't watch The Dark Knight either. Actually, he doesn't watch a lot of films. I usually just pop them in and start watching them. If I ask first, he'll say no. But then after, he's all "That was awesome!"
You'd think after not steering him wrong on the last 20 films or so (Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Top Gun, Mission Impossible, James Bond, etc etc) he'd give me the benefit of the doubt, but nooooo...

Wizard of Oz. Soooo...the Emerald City has miles and miles of Poppy fields surrounding their city. Yeahhh...it all becomes clear now.
Knight's Tale. The wonderful ensemble of actors in this really elevates it. Paul Bettany, Alan Tudyk, and Mark Addy are fantastic.
Shakespeare In Love. Daughter watched it for the first time. It came out the year she was born. Wonderful film.

I watched some of this with a friend while we were very, very high the other night. It was the first time in a long while - I had forgotten that the Scarecrow busted a gun out of nowhere in the middle of the forest. That was very bizarre, and not just because of the drugs.RoIIo Tomassi wrote:Wizard of Oz. Soooo...the Emerald City has miles and miles of Poppy fields surrounding their city. Salt - "The female answer to Jason Bourne" my ass. Angelia Jolie is really starting to show her age. Yeah, I'd still hit it (twice), but she's nowhere near as sexy as she used to be.
The Hunger Games - A few minor complaints, but a very well done adaptation of the book.
The Rocka-fire Explosion - If you grew up in the 80s and went to Showbiz Pizza, then you should really watch this doc. Nostalgia galore. Fats Geronimo may be the best name for a frontman ever.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith - Still very watchable, but I remembered this movie being a lot more fun.
Ocean's Eleven - The 2001 version. Hadn't seen it since theaters. Over 10 years later and it has held up pretty well.
Priest - 90 minutes of pure shit.
Click - Only 2 good things about this one are JJL's avatar.

I was wondering why TinMan was lugging a big damn wrench with him. Was he gonna fix some plumbing or some shit?Senor JabbaJohnL wrote:I watched some of this with a friend while we were very, very high the other night. The Lion with the butterfly net made sense though, because he was a big flaming poof.

(500) Days of Summer - really entertaining, well-acted, well-written romantic comedy (a sentence that has never before been written). joeseph gordon-levitt should have at least anarky tuning in, since he's got a mancrush on him. i came for the zooey deschanel.
Life is short. STUNT IT!

Re: What have you watched lately?
American Pie was on Comedy Central last night, supposedly it was uncensored and they showed clips of the new movie as they went to commercials. Well, it wasn't exactly uncensored. They didn't bleep out "shit", "fuck" or any of the other naughty words, but they blurred out the boobies.

(500) is a surprisingly good flick. How Sony saw this and said, "This director would be perfect for The Amazing Spider-Man!" is beyond me (even though Spidey looks pretty good).
The Mechanic - The 2011 remake starring Jason Statham and Ben Foster. Pretty run of the mill, forgettable action flick. But it's got some boobs and explosions, so it wasn't all bad.
Stranger Than Fiction - The vastly underrated Will Ferrell flick, where he plays a guy who suddenly hears a voice narrating his life, which informs him that he's going to die soon. Maggie Gyllenhaal is actually looks cute here and less like a sad cartoon turtle.

Hanna - Decent, but overrated.
American Pie 2 - A worthy sequel that holds up as well as the original.

The Ten Commandments is playing on TV. Killing little kids with plague? Wow, God is kind of a dick.
