Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Picked up the TPB of Tank Girl yesterday for $3.75 at a Borders, where it was marked as 75% off. The label indicated it had been a special order, so I'm guessing someone ordered it and refused it because it wasn't in mint condition. I've never read it, and that's almost what a single issue would've cost ten years or so ago when it came out.
My copy of Classic GIJoe #1 came yesterday, too. I got through Operation: Lady Doomsday, Panic at the North Pole, The Trojan Gambit, and Operation: Wingfield last night. (In other words, the first four issues.)

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
I also got All Hail Megatron Vol 1 the day after Classic GIJoe. (I'm not sure why Amazon split the order to "get me some items faster" and then sent them within a day of each other!) It wasn't Maus or Watchmen, but I was pleasantly surprised after all the negative buzz I've heard.
I will say that the pacing is so slow that, if I'd spent $3 or $4 or whatever per issue, I'd be pissed, as I would if Amazon didn't discount IDW graphic novels by about 30%. Six issues, and it was really only about one double-sized issue worth of story. And, aside from a few minor continuity farts (Reflector not only is alive, but not in a million pieces scattered above the planet Wheelie's stranded on?), it wasn't the "ignore everything that came before" fest that I'd heard.

Star Wars Legacy #33
The Boys #28
Daredevil #116
Batman Cacophony #3 - Good end to the mini and a great conversation between Batman and Joker (Dialogue is one of Kevin Smith's strong suits). It felt like this is where the conversation between the two from The Killing Joke could have gone, if it had happened at all.

Not to quibble, but why are you still buying Legacy? Did it turn around in quality, or are you just stuck on it in the hopes it eventually will?

I think it is because there are usually hints of a good story right below the surface, but so far things have just plodded along.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Not this week, exactly, but I've discovered that the (roughly) monthly 10% off B&N coupon can be used online in conjunction with the 5% off and free expedited shipping from AAA. I placed an order for a book from a college friend of mine this month, and I'm planning to order Mr Scootles next month, vynnie. (The small print books are the ones that tend to not have any discount whatsoever from any retailer, and are never in physical stores, unfortunately.)

also, he's going to be launching a new weekly webcomic sometime in april, apparently.vynsane wrote:nice... you won't be disappointed. it's definitely unique. i've never quite seen a story like it.anarky wrote:[...] and I'm planning to order Mr Scootles next month[...]
in the store
Amazing Spider-man Extra #3
Dark Avengers #3
Spider-man Noir #4
Invincible #60 (! holy crap, i can't believe it's been going strong this long...)
really dismaying side-note: all in-store purchases were priced $3.99! i can see ASMExtra and invincible, as they're both rather large books, but spidey noir gets a price bump because of a cardstock cover? and i don't really know why dark avengers is $3.99 at all... i mean, it's really good, but i don't think it's oversized and it's got a regular cover...

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Like I anticipated, I got another B&N coupon today, so I just ordered Mr Scootles. Looks like it's supposed to ship in about three days, so I should have it around the middle of next week.

so far it's been a rather light month. but it being a 5-wednesday month, and still two to go, it's probably going to be a heavy last two weeks. next week already looks to be a rather large haul, though four of the 10 books are subscriptions, bringing a $29 week down to an $16 week, so that's cool. plus the second issue of savage dragon in one month. everyone check out savage dragon #148 on FCBD! literally, it's a free full issue...
