I can't recall anything about Mystery, Alaska except that Russell Crowe was in it and I think somebody fucked somebody else's wife. And hockey.

I turned on Mystery, Alaska towards the end of the training sequence and lost interest somewhere towards the end of the second period when they were playing the Rangers.
Speaking of hockey movies, I kind of wanted to see that Goon movie with Stiffler. I know he has a real name, which I believe is a combination of 3 first names, but Stiffler is much easier to remember. Kevin Smith is supposed to be working on a hockey movie as well. Come to think of it, I never saw Miracle.
Just remembered I watched most of Anchorman this weekend, too.

Miracle is a great flick. Kurt Russell makes me believe in miracles.
Smith's will be called Hit Somebody, his final film, hopefully filming this year, which coincidentally was supposed to star Sean William Scott, but he chose to do Goon instead.
This topic reminds me, I need to buy/rewatch Slapshot.

I was all set to say "John Carter" this afternoon, but my daughter decided literally an hour before we were leaving that she didn't want to go.
Dammit.
It's a fucking ordeal to go to the theater in the next town. The local one is not especially good, but has $2.50 showings all day Wednesday.
I am really wondering, though: why does every single trailer for this movie not start with "From the creator of Tarzan... and the director of Finding Nemo and Wall-E"? Really, Disney, that's like Rule #1. If I see commercials that start with "From the Key Grip of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," this should be a given.

How about...."An adventure LITERALLY 100 Years in the Making..."

You know what sucks about watching Anchorman? The "Afternoon Delight" song getting stuck in your head for 4 days.

Whenever I hear Afternoon Delight, I think of Arrested Development and it's hilariously inappropriate use there. And also Good Will Hunting.

Oh, fuck yes, Rollo. That was one of the funniest moments in a consistently funnier-than-anything-else series.

Addams Family and Addams Family Values were on back to back tonight. The 'plots' of both films actually hindered them. I thought all the (for wont of a better term) the "Addams gags" were pretty funny and all delivered with deadpan hilarity by Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston, Christina Ricci, etc. if they'd had more of that stuff and less of the greedy fake mother in the first film, and Joan Cusack's gold digging bride in the second, they'd be even better.

Agreed.
Ricci was an awesome actress from an early age. It's awkward to watch those movies with her as a kid now, since I'm unable to see her without getting wood, and seeing her without boobs confuses my penis.

Watched most of Good Morning, Vietnam. I couldn't help but wonder how he kept getting Jeeps so easily for his private use in the middle of a war.

Since my last post I've finished Game of Thrones and watched:
Total Recall - For the most part, this flick has not held up very well at all. A few of the effects are still great, but some of the "futuristic" bits are laughable, like the GPS things they use to track Arnold - its the size of a police radar gun, where we have basically the same thing on a cell phone.
Three boobs are still awesome though.
Dream House - Daniel Craig and some other people plod along in a slow, boring ass "horror" movie.
21 Jump Street - Far better than it should have been. I did love how they make fun of the fact that Hollywood is really fucking lazy. Channing Tatum hasn't been this funny since GI Joe.
Black Snake Moan - So good. So underrated. So under...seen(?).
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - A far better Daniel Craig movie. Rooney Mara was robbed of the Oscar.
Attack The Block - British kids fight aliens. Solid, but a bit overpraised.
Also, did you know there are black people (African Europeans?) in London?

I've actually got a buddy who's a black guy in London.
I still need to see Black Snake Moan, which I'll be the first to say is inexcusable since I love Samuel L Jackson, Christina Ricci (particularly Christina Ricci in sexy getups), and blues music.

Its definitely a movie not every one will love, especially taken at face value.
I guess its loosely based on Silas Marner, but based on the wikipedia entry for Silas Marner, I don't see it.
And Sam Jackson singing the blues is awesome. The guy should really do an entire album.

I have the soundtrack for it, and Mr. Jackson is far more impressive than 99% of actors who decide they're singers.
(Sigh.) I'm just way behind on movies and it's tough to make time for films that the kids can't see and my wife doesn't want to.
