Droids need BandAids now? Interesting.

what? actually, no. i don't even want to know...
Well, you're gonna learn.
C-3PX was a protocol droid reprogrammed as an assassin droind.

I thought he was a one time Droids mini-series character, I see now they've even bastardized that with a Darth Maul origin.
oh sweet jeebux.

C-3PX was actually a really cool one-off character. Basically, C-3PO got hit on the head while at some sort of market, and a guy just slapped some black tape on his head to cover the dent rather than repairing it. This led to all sorts of mistaken identity, since C-3PX was a well-known and deadly bounty hunter. Like the entire Dark Horse Droids miniseries, it was played for laughs, but rather subtly.
Reading the Wookiepedia page, it's clear that was fucked up. I'd heard of the Maul origins, but now the fucker's had as many pointless memory wipes to cover up shoddy writing than C-3PO has.
The thing that bugs me is I've wanted a C-3PX for ages and ages. As you can see from the pictures, he could be easily based on C-3PO, attaching existing weapons like the 1997-ish Rebel rifle with the strap, IG-88's rifle, Boba Fett's backpack, etc. What they've done is slap a few random cannons on the arms and legs of a standard C-3PO figure, without even painting details on it! Leaving the jetpack off is a travesty.
At least I'll always have the custom I started and should probably finish since it's been almost a decade since I started on him.

You turkeys making me double-post again? Sorry, Grimlock. They did it. Now, open up and START SUCKING!
I've pretty much given up on the Galactic Heroes. They were kinda cool, once. Now, it's "buy this ten-pack of nine figures you have and one you want" and making cutesy versions of every background character.
Somehow, that seems to me to defeat the very reason these exist. They ceased being toys for kids, and are now the same sort of collector trap as the basic figures. This is a line that should have twenty figures, tops. It's supposed to be for kids who aren't old enough to have the regular 3.75" figures. Any adults who buy them for themselves should be icing on the cake for Hasbro, not their bread and butter. If kids are sophisticated enough to want Ellors Fucking Madak, then they're old enough for the regular figure.
Same goes for the spinoffs. Superhero Squad is especially bad. What four-year-old needs a fucking Planet Hulk Hulk? He knows there's a big green strong guy. Don't confuse him.
For Adventure Heroes, I'd really like Indy, Short Round, and Henry Sr. That's it. That's all a lot of people would want. But, to get those three, I'd have to buy three more figures that are useless to me because of the way they package them.
I'll keep getting the Robot Heroes, at least the G1 ones. And Combat Heroes, as long as they don't get too ridiculous.

We quit buying the 2 packs. The plan was to just buy the battle packs when they came out. We never saw the Cantina packs. I only saw the Jabba set once a week or two for Christmas. I figured I could come back and get it later. Never saw it again and haven't bothered ordering it online since the kids don't show much interest in them.

Double post, Grimlock can motorboat my nuts.
Target had that Video Game Rancor today. The figure that came with it reminded me of the witch doctor from Scooby Doo.
Secondly, I was skimming the Q&A summary over at RS. One site (yodanews?) actually questioned the accuracy of the droid location on a GH starfighter? Seriously? They couldn't come up with a better question than that?

Since Indiana Jones is semi-SW related I'm posting this here instead of starting a new thread for it.
Marion Ravenwood or Camel Toe Annie?
Indy must be hung like a horse.

When you read their comments and look at the line, you've really got to wonder how much, despite their claims, the Star Wars team actually knows and thinks about Star Wars.
One recent Q&A question was whether they'd re-release the ROTS Royal Guard with the TPM head for an updated TPM Guard. Good question. Pretty obvious kitbash figure people would actually want. They said they'd never considered it.
They're churning out all sorts of totally new resculpts without producing figures people ask for. It took ten years of begging to get a Yarna. They still won't make figures like Teek or Jaxxon, even though they could easily do them as comic or video tie-ins. Hell, they won't make the fucking Lars family already, or Tey How, the only Neimoidian who doesn't look like ass. But why the fuck do we have three distinctly different figures each for characters like Momaw Nadon who have less than a second of screen time and do nothing? Four Arena Padmes? Isn't that way excessive? And, no, I'm not going to bother counting Tatooine Lukes.
With the comics, there are three issues (six figures) based on the Battle of Jabiim. Three issues long. Lackluster story. Pretty basic lineup--aside from one new droid and one new character, it's all characters we've seen multiple times already. But whenever anyone specifically asks for better-known issues, these guys act like they've never heard of them. Did they only read one trade paperback and so they have to base everything on those?
And they make army builders so impossible to find. I could, right now, buy fifty Vaders at one store! Seventy if you count him before he's fried. I've seen one Jumptrooper, one Evo Trooper, no Shadow Guards, no Shadow Stormtroopers, no Utapau Shadow Troopers, and no Covert Ops Troopers. Plain Stormtroopers and Clonetroopers don't last long. Hell, if it's not a Shocktrooper or 501st Trooper, both of which they have serious hard-ons for, you don't find it.

Nark, do you want the Shadow Troops? If so I have them, I just want the coins.

Nah. I'm in the "if I find 'em, great, if not, no loss" camp.
So pics came out today of a new Evolutions set. Imperial Pilots: Clone Wars Clonetrooper, ROTS Clonetrooper, and EU Biggs from what may honestly be the worst SW comic ever put out (aside from Legacy, which isn't even SW anymore).
Great. More fucking Clonetroopers. And EU TIE Pilot Biggs? Why not Han? That might actually make sense, and make the set worth getting, even with the carp Clonetroopers.
For that matter, why not put a Jag Fel figure in?
And, yet, people are going apeshit already. "Woo! Improved Clone Pilots!" What, does anyone display those anywhere other than the fucking cockpit where you can't see them?
I'm coming to the conclusion--scratch that, am well beyond the conclusion--that there are a lot of people who will buy anything Hasbro puts out and act like it's the greatest thing ever.

So what are they going to do, slap a pre-existing Biggs head on that Comic TIE Pilot body?
Is this part of the leaking that goes on right before every comic-con and toyfare? Let me know if they announce anything I might actually buy. Speaking of Comic-con G4TV says they will have 6 hours of coverage again this year.

Probably. Jediinsider is getting a lot of pictures of stuff that was unknown or vague rumors just a week or two ago.

I am stoked about the prospect of a new Bespin Guard, although JT shot me down when I mentioned how lame the old one was, telling me it was on of the best POTJ figures. In spite of the fact the figure had an open vest seen nowhere in the film.
5 weeks to Falcon time!
