She's retained absolutely none of her brattiness, annoying nicknames, or anything else that was bothersome from the early episodes. Especially going forward from Season Three's episodes where she was captured by the Trandoshans, she's grown so much as a character to where now I actually have to remind myself that she doesn't appear at all in Revenge of the Sith. Yes, it was initially odd that Anakin had a Padawan and yes, she was very annoying at first, but now she feels like an important part of the saga to me. Apparently the next four episodes are big ones for her.
I still loathe that little bitch. I hope she dies in every episode. It was more than odd that Anakin had a padawan - it was downright stupid. Her inclusion still makes no sense in the overall story and it is painfully obvious that she was only included so kids had someone to latch on to. You know, because kids totally needed a young character to identify with in the OT . I don't feel like she's grown much at all. She is still irritating and overconfident.
It is even even more painfully obvious than the inclusion of Battle Droids in the PT (so the Jedi could hack apart enemies with lightsabers and still be rated PG).
Senor JabbaJohnL wrote:I didn't hate the droid arc as much as the rest of the internet, but in retrospect it feels like a waste of a lot of time. Especially since R2-D2 and the other astromechs were all but ignored so we could spend a ton of time with Colonel Gascon and WAC and their forced shenanigans. I loved the youngling arc, though - it felt like old fashioned Star Wars and gave a lot of fun history to the Jedi and their lightsabers. And Hondo is awesome. I guess we just have different tastes when it comes to this show.
I have a soft spot for Artoo and Threepio since they were my first favorites as a kid and it seems that almost everything outside the flicks practically ignores them.
I guess I hate every character created for the show: Ahsoka, Oppress, Hondo, Death Watch, Satine, etc. All irritating.
I wanted a series similar to the early episodes like The Malevolence Trilogy. Now that felt like a Star Wars story, especially the last episode.

Would you like Ahsoka better if she walked into the room during a Maul/Anakin duel, with a look on her face that made the stop fighting and ask if she had something to say, then she responds in a deep voice that doesn't match the dubbing, "I have to go. My home planet needs me?" (Followed, of course, by a note that she died on the way to her home planet?)

Not only is Disney doing Episodes 7-9, but they are going to do spin-offs? I really shouldn't be surprised. Disney is the company that took movies that ended with "Happily ever after" and made 2 or 3 sequels for them. It just seems like it is really going to water things down. But, they spent $4 billion to get Lucasfilm and have to make their money back somehow. Hopefully something good will come out of it.

I look at it this way; between the prequels, and the novels, and the comics, and the video games, and the cartoons, and the combinations of any and all of those(video game adaptations of cartoons, comic adaptations of novels, etc) the entire thing has already become diluted. So who goes a shit? Enjoy the things you like, pretend the other shit doesn't exist. If the Han Solo movie is awesome, Great! If it sucks, it won't be the first SW thing that sucks. It won't even be the 101st.

i could totally get behind a han solo prequel movie series, especially if helmed by whedon. firefly/serenity was basically his way of doing that without paying lucas for the rights to the characters, anyway.
boba fett, eh, maybe. but it would need to be a little more 'mature audiences' for it to be worth a damn.

I've been ignoring the prequels, comics, and video games and novels for quite some time. I can't un-see the prequels. I never got into the the comics or cartoons. The last novel I read was probably 12 years ago. They were just getting silly...like Rogue Squadron and Han Solo's pre ANH story (with the Hutt's cult religion and his cat partner before Chewbacca). There were probably more I'm leaving out. Maybe something about Lando? If I really wanted to know, I probably listed the ones I read at the other site at some point.
There haven't been many recent Star Wars video games I've played recently. There was Dark Forces, which I don't think involved any main characters. Battlefront 1 & 2 which were just first person shooters. There was also another one for the PC that was basically Age of Empires. And the Rogue Squadron series more or less just reenacted battles from the movies.
The live action tv show never got off the ground. Maybe Disney can ressurect that too.

Holy crap. I never thought about the Han Solo-Firefly thing, but it makes sense.

Fett should be handled like a western; Solo like an Ocean's 11 crime caper.
I want an Artoo and Threepio flick.

Someone at the other site suggested a Qui-Gon/Mace movie. I would give both arms and legs for that.

I wonder if they'd get the kid who played Boba in the prequels to be in the Fett movie. He's gotta be in his 20s now right?

Last night a commercial came on for the new Die Hard. It wasn't long after I saw the thing about the spin off films. Something made me think that Bruce Willis should play Sifo Dias (?) in a spin off film.

Both of those guys went out like bitches in the movies. And they both got taken out by bitches who also went out like bitches.
And the guys who played them are both like in their 70s now. I don't know how old exactly, but they're fuckin' old. Collecting Social Security and shit. Remember that pitiful whiffleball bat fight from the first Star Wars movie between Sir Alec and that old geezer weightlifter guy? Two geriatrics with pinata sticks trying not to poop their adult diapers. Their lightsaber fights would be even more pitiful than that.
It's a stupid idea and you are a twatwad buttlicker for wanting to watch it.

I'm thinking of the spin-off movies in the same vein as I think of the Ewok movies - if they suck, oh well, they're just a side thing. If they rock, then awesome! The fact that Lawrence Kasdan is writing one is awesome. Simon Kinberg has some iffy credits to his name but some good ones as well, so we'll see on that one. I think the spin-off films will have less pressure on them than Episodes VII-IX, so there's room to have fun. The main thing I'm concerned about is casting - if they're going to recast iconic roles, they better do it right. Ewan McGregor did pretty fucking well as Obi-Wan, so there's hope for this kind of thing. All the people bitching that "the prequels should have focused on such-and-such a character being a badass" can effectively shut the fuck up now since we could very well get those movies now. Don't pretend like the possibility of Episode 3.5 with Vader whooping ass doesn't excite you.

A Fettsghetti western would rock my dick right off. So would a mob movie starring the Hutts. The possibilities are just about endless, we just have to hope that they'll do this well. This also means that directors who wanted to work on Episode VII but didn't get the job - Matthew Vaughn, Jon Favreau, etc. - might still be able to make a SW movie after all.
Ran wrote:The live action tv show never got off the ground. Maybe Disney can ressurect that too.
They said they'd be looking at that now that the deal is finalized. Since they're making S.H.I.E.L.D. (or at least planning to), you'd have to think they'd to something similar for SW. I doubt it'll be the crazy expensive show they wanted to do before the purchase, but if it is, they'll have be closer to having the budget than Lucasfilm alone was, so who knows.
RoIIo Tomassi wrote:I wonder if they'd get the kid who played Boba in the prequels to be in the Fett movie. He's gotta be in his 20s now right?
Yeah, he's around my age. He voices young Boba on The Clone Wars so he'd be all about it. His voice is a little high but I think he could be good at it.
