Not a movie, but I finally got around to starting season 3 of Californication and watched 8 of the 12 episodes in one sitting the other night. And at 4 hours that is enough to be considered 2 movies to me.
I'm going to try to get to the last 4 tonight.

The years have not been kind to Kathleen Turner. Yikes.

That's been true since V.I. Warshawski.

Pride and Glory. A drama about a family of NY Cops, one of whom is dirty. Starring Ed Norton and Colin Farell. Pretty intense. Especially the scene where the corrupt cops are threatening a guys family and they put the baby on the ironing board if the guy doesn't give up his drug dealer buddy. I was like WTF?! That's fuckin' hardcore, yo.

The Indiana Jones Trilogy. How awesome is it that those movies hold up so well after 22-30 years?

Hugo. I seriously had no clue this movie was about Georges Milies and the early cinema of the 20th century. There's not a lick of that anywhere in the trailers. Had there been, I might have checked it out a lot sooner. The art direction was superb, but is art direction getting to be kind a cheat if you can just whip up whatever you want in a computer? Anyway, I dont think it's got Best Pic in it, but pleasantly surprised. Dirty Old Man Alert! Chloƫ Moretz is the new Emma Watson.

My free weekend of HBO came and went. Other than Dick Tracy, I watched an episode of Bill Maher, which was entertaining. I didn't know Kennedy from MTV is now doing political satire.

I tried watching Date Night and Dinner for Schmucks, but turned them off after about 20 minutes. They were bad. Isn't Steve Carell supposed to be funny?

I saw Date Night and have to agree. It's like a movie the studio execs would decide to make. "okay, we'll get Carell and Tina Fey in a RomCom because they're both big TV Stars right now! But don't bother hiring a screenwriter to write anything funny for them, because they're both big TV stars right now...and that'll be enough to attract audiences for opening weekend!!"

As a lead, I've only seen Carrell be funny in The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

As a Daily Show correspondent, he was one of the all-time greats.

40 Year Old Virgin was good, but somewhat overrated. He was funny in Anchorman, too.

40 Year Old Virgin is good because it has Elizabeth Banks in it being down for some anal action. Rrrowwl. :heybaby:

The Woman in Black. Consists of Harry Potter hearing spooky noises in a spooky mansion and running up and down the spooky stairs for the whole film. Then he and his son get hit by a train at the end. Asinine.

Astro Boy. It's rather a shame that Imagi has done two quite good cartoons (this and TMNT), and both flopped. And that there have been two awesome remakes of really old Japanese cartoons (this and Speed Racer), and both flopped. My expectations weren't especially high, and they got smashed into the ground; Astro Boy would've lived up to even rather high expectations. It drags a bit in the middle, but, overall, I'd bet even Diabolical wouldn't be able to hate it because Nick Cage is in it, except Diabolical has no taste in movies and hates Speed Racer, so he'll just go and refuse to watch Blues Brothers again instead.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's another completely unappreciated work of genius like Speed Racer, but it's definitely worth checking out. Awesome score by John Ottman, too. Amazon has the DVD for six bucks, so I think I'm going to be checking out Big Lots and seeing if they've got it for three.

Astro Boy's voice fast is pretty impressive (minus Cage) . Any movie with Kristen Bell has to have some degree of watchability, but this one didn't grab my attention.
