Re: Marvel Universe
seriously, WTF happened to loeb? long halloween, spider-man:blue... and now we get ultimatum (the comic book equivalent of snuff films) and hulk: puse. even 'new ultimates' is making me scratch my head - i don't see how it ties into ultimate avengers in the slightest, and the only thing keeping me buying it is frank cho's art.

Re: Marvel Universe
Fuck it. In my book, Norman Osborne speared himself with a glider immediately after killing Gwen Stacy. Any resurrection of Norman Osborne is bullshit.
Green Goblin I, Bucky Barnes, and Jason Todd were the three comic book deaths that actually meant something. (I don't count Uncle Ben, since he's a supporting character.) And now they're all undone.

Um, it was Mary Jane that Osborne tried to kill before impaling himself in Spider-Man 1. And Gwen Stacy was in Spider-Man 3.anarky wrote:Fuck it. In my book, Norman Osborne speared himself with a glider immediately after killing Gwen Stacy. Any resurrection of Norman Osborne is bullshit.

Re: Marvel Universe
i'd agree, except for the fact that the stories they were doing with him in 'dark avengers' were fantastic - he really thought he was doing the right thing, trying to do the right thing, but the green goblin part of his psyche won out and drove him to tear down everything he was trying to do. nevermind the fact that the entire time he was doing the wrong thing.anarky wrote:Fuck it. Re: Marvel Universe
Not saying they weren't good, and I've heard the Bucky stories are good. Just that they never should've happened.
The Jason stories are pretty universally considered shit, I hear. And, of the three, he'd be the one who seems to have the most potential.

Re: Marvel Universe
The Jason Todd stories are shitty because they are all over the board with him. Either he's a hard edge Batman with a "killing is okay" policy. Or he's a loony whiny bitch. Or he's just a misunderstood hero with an attitude.
But DCs policy with many of their characters is to be as inconsistent as possible, that way they can alienate the largest number of readers.

Re: Marvel Universe
The Lizard ate his kid?
The Lizard. ATE. HIS KID???
Dude, that is a place neither the Lizard nor the overall tone of the flagship Spider-Man title can ever return from. Not a good choice. Connors deserves better than to become a completely unthinking monster.
Never mind, fuck, eating a kid? This is Spider-Man, not Punisher Max.

Re: Marvel Universe
Back in the 80's Steve Rogers was a graphic artist who for a short time got work at the fictional Marvel Comics within the Marvel Universe and actually drew his own Captain America adventures for awhile.
With his subsequent unmasking to the world, his assasination and ressurection, and now taking over as head of SHIELD, how much fanboy twitter do you think that generates online in the Marvel U and what do you think those issues that he drew would be worth?
Someone should do a story about that.

So, Black Panther is the new Daredevil?
How exactly does that make sense?

Re: Marvel Universe
Even more questionable is Frank Castle being a part of 'Heroes for Hire'. Does that scan? At ALL?
Seriously, its like they had a huge editorial summit at Marvel where the only question at the table was 'How can we completely fuck up the Punisher?'

Re: Marvel Universe
I missed that one, but just looked it up. That's got to be the most schizo HfH lineup ever. If Iron Fist and Punisher are both on the team, wouldn't Iron Fist spend the entire time beating the shit out of Punisher and hauling his ass to jail?
They really sound like they're getting desperate, throwing shit at the wall. Both companies, that is.
But, really, how does a fucking king replace a street vigilante?

Re: Marvel Universe
Onoes, they're going to kill a member of the Fantastic Four!
Isn't that an annual tradition by this point? Just in my meager FF collection, I have at least one death of every member. (Of course, owning Infinity Gauntlet #1 makes that one super-easy, but, hey, that's beside the point.)
