Stupid, but that's how they see it.
This.
Also, “expectations”.
If BW was expected to pull in $100M and only did 80, it’s a failure.
If Shang expected to do $50M and did 70, it’s a hit.

how anyone can have any expectations of anything during an unnecessarily extended pandemic is beyond me.
i thought it was a lot of fun. there was a lot of "have you ever heard the legend of..." type exposition, but it was done well. the fight scenes were, naturally, fantastic.
anarky wrote:Okay, couple of spoiler questions about the end: Most importantly, WHY THE FUCK WAS THAT BRUCE AND NOT PROFESSOR HULK?!?
yeah, that was the most low-key major revelation of the entire film. the simple, out of universe, explanation is that they didn't have the VFX budget to make him Professor Hulk after all the "great protector" and "soul sucker" scenes (not based on anything official, mind) but it just makes it more intriguing for the next movie.

So now I have no idea if or when I'll be able to see Shang-Chi.
My 2 local theaters don't have any weekday showings before 3:00, which doesn't work at all with the kid.
Also, she now might be sick and staying home for the rest of the week instead of going to daycare.
I may have to seek it out...elsewhere.

Also, we're not talking What If...? here and should be.
I have a really strong suspicion that last week's Dr. Strange episode is going to have major repercussions on the MCU as a whole, not just this universe.
My jaw fucking hit the floor when he talked to Uatu. I had to tell the family there is no way to overstate what a huge deal that is. Sensing a Watcher who doesn't want to be seen is pretty big itself, but sensing him from another universe? Has that ever even happened in comics?
This Strange destroyed his universe. He alone survived.
And he's crazy powerful, still obsessed over Christine, and knows about the multiverse. And theoretically has infinite time on his hands. I've heard people speculate that it's him in the No Way Home trailer, explaining why he's acting so weird. I think they might be right, whether hoping to collapse all of reality for his ends or to take over a universe where Christine survived. And Wong, for all his power, probably wouldn't be able to tell, since he's still Dr. Strange!

Yeah, I don't think so.
I highly doubt they'd put something that important in a cartoon.
I can only see What If...? creating its own connected animated universe.
And to that effect, I'm starting to realize the Disney+ shows really aren't "necessary" viewing for the films. Sure, they'll connect dots, but not ones that necessarily need connecting.
Kind of like like Solo. Good fun story, but unnecessary.
We saw Sam get the shield from Cap, so it should be no surprise that he shows up as the new Captain America in an upcoming film.
I don't think Loki will ever truly show up in the films again. His time will be spent in the TVA and his story there. Kang is going to be introduced (again) in Ant-Man 3. If there is an explanation, it'll be in exposition.
Same with Wanda. Her story will be summed up in exposition in Dr. Strange 2. She had a hard time dealing with Vision's death, so she spent time alone exploring her powers.

So What If...? - are they going to assemble a Multiversal Avengers to defeat Cosmic Ultron?
Also, where the hell did LEGO come up with the Sakaarian Iron Man set?? I can't imagine that's the final episode... Unless it's just some minor plotpoint, which seems weird.

I read somewhere there was supposed to be one more episode, which was pushed to next season (which I don't think is technically confirmed otherwise).

I haven't watched any of the series yet, but I did read that the lead writer confirmed that one episode was pushed to season 2. It is supposed to be more comedic.

The season finale of What If was pretty solid. Every episode of the season ended up factoring into the finale in one way or another. Pretty cool.

The lost episode had to be about Gamora.
While I enjoyed it overall, Marvel doesn't always have to tie everything together. These could have easily been stand alone stories (possibly with a sequel episodes later).

Will Poulter is playing Adam Warlock in GOTG3. That is some…unconventional casting…

There has been so much stuff online about The Eternals, I thought it came out a couple weeks ago. Apparently it comes out this week.

It’s the worst-reviewed MCU film to date. Even lower scores than Thor:Dark World.
Yikes.

It's a film literally no one wanted - like Guardians. Guardians was a critical juncture for Marvel - the first real "untested" property they gambled on if you will, and it turned out to be a smash. They needed a movie like that again & it sure sounds like they did not create one.
Who even READ Eternals back in the day? I sure as hell didn't... not until the Neil Gaiman version & I only remember that being a real slog to get through.
