That's cool, actually. Our guy does similar stuff - the odd time he'll throw a variant bone my way (the Astonishing X-Men covers he gave me were always the variants because he knew I was into Astonishing) but the big ticket ones he'll mark up and sell (sketch variants of Secret Invasion or whatever). If I wasn't half asleep I'd have begged for the Ross GG, but I figure he gave it to a Spider-Freak. All well and good.

i really don't think the ross gobbie cover was a short-packed version. midtown comics had it on the regular rack for cover price, and they ALWAYS up-price the rarities.

Is that the venom painting? No big deal to me either way - it said "VARIANT EDITION" all excited like on the cover so I thought I had hit the jackpot! The rest of the covers I have are the JRJr versions.

The Spidey covers are 50/50 variants. Which is the way to go in my opinion. Unless thay are Zombie covers or Ape covers. Those can go suck it.

I like 50/50 as well, on the odd occasions they've tricked me into buying both (Astonishing X-Men I'm near complete covers-wise for whatever reason).

the venom painting by adi is for the issue after the one with the ross gobbie cover - it's for issue 569. 570 had a beaten-nearly-to-death spidey face variant (not a great painting, either...) but the next one is bullseye. they're calling them "villain variants" (though the beaten-nearly-to-death spidey face isn't really a villain, but whatever...)

Hmmm. According to solicits , Punisher MAX is now being called Punisher:Frank Castle, and Punisher War Journal is going bye bye, and being replaced with a new Punisher #1.

The Punisher: Frank Castle?
God, that's retarded.

And I hope the dropping of War Journal also means the exit of Fraction.

Rick Remeder (sp?) is writing it now. I think he's been doing PWJ for awhile.

Thor is reverting back to original numbering with issue 600!!!

Co-writing, which I figured/hoped was being done as a gradual writing transition.

Has Secret Invasion worn out its welcome?

Remember when jjreason was all miffed because Wolverine stabbed that rich powerful guy in the face during Civil War and there were no repercussions? Well, according to the new Amazing Spider-Man Annual, that guy didn't die when he got stabbed in the face with three adamantium claws. I haven't read the issue yet. but I assume the explanation is a doozie.

Obviously they didn't hit anything vital, like the brains for example. Or maybe the eyes. I bet if you're rich enough, you can buy new brains & eyes though.

Dear god. You would expect that statement to be farcical. But they actually did that.

The exact quote "As a result. Yes. I had to endure extensive reconstructive surgery--including cybernetic implants in both eyes. But obviously I'm not dead."

Fuck you Spider-Man editorial office. Fuck you in both your eyes.
