I've got to say, I don't think I have any interest in an Independence Day sequel. The first one, no matter what anyone says, is one of the best action films ever made. I don't think it's possible to even equal it, particularly since you'd have to have the aliens return and it would be inevitable they'd try to top the first (which only works for a small handful of sequels).
