I've seen it. But, it was so long ago I couldn't tell you anything about it other that that he was singing and dancing in the rain at some point.

I love Singin' in the Rain. I, too, didn't see it until halfway thru college (I watched it for a film class) and was pleasantly suprised at how awesome it was. I have since bought it and just re-watched it a few months ago.

I saw Piranha 3D the other day, perhaps the only time the 3D technology has been used to its full potential. Do you enjoy naked pornstars getting sliced in half? Well, I do. And this I like Piranha 3D, the dumbest, most idiotic, most offensively amazing movie I think I've ever seen.
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

Re: What have you watched lately?
Recently:
Death at a Funeral - The remake with 2/3 of Hollywood's black actors. Surprisingly not as horrible as it looked, but still not all that great. I expected a lot of honky jokes at the expense of the three white actors, but there really wasn't any. The rare example of a "black" movie that doesn't treat it's intended audience like morons (Lottery Ticket, Soul Plane, etc.).
Repo Men - I saw it in theaters, but rented it to give it another watch. I still enjoyed it, despite the obvious low budget. The idea of having your artificial organs repossessed when you get behind on your payments (like a vehicle) is pretty creepy. The opening scene is great and could have worked as a great short film.
Batman: Under the Red Hood - A rare example of a good animated version of Batman and Joker that isn't Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill. The film combines elements of A Death In The Family and some more recent Batman stories I'm only vaguely familiar with.
The Sci-Fi Boys - A documentary I picked up at Big Lots for $3.00 about the history of the big boys of Hollywood sci-fi and special effects. It features interviews with Peter Jackson, Ray Harryhausen, Ray Bradbury, Forest J Ackerman, Roger Corman, Dennis Muren, Rick Baker, and many more. Not a bad doc, even though I fell asleep for a few minutes during it (I watched it pretty late at night). Worth the $3.00.
Punisher: War Zone - Gave it a second shot. Although it isn't as bad as I remember, it still isn't anywhere near good. Stevenson is a decent looking Castle, but there is almost nothing to the character (even though they try to give him some heart). Everyone else is miscast and their characters are horribly misused. The color palette used throughout the film is almost as distracting as the bad script and acting - just because it works on the page doesn't mean it'll work on screen. War Zone is every Ennis MAX comic thrown into a blender, with a dash of Marvel Knights, then watered down; you have the look, the characters, the violence but none of the quality, fleshed out writing and characterization.

Saw part of The Mask. Haven't seen it in years. The make-up person for that movie deserved some sort of award because Cameron Diaz was actually kind of hot.

Re: What have you watched lately?
Cameron Diaz started out smoking hot in that movie, and got progressively uglier in each movie she's appeared in since. Yes, any live-action appearance she makes now is uglier than Fiona from Shrek, if only because you know Justin Timberlake stuck his dick in her box.

Re: What have you watched lately?
She has a great entrance in that movie. Maybe one of the best onscreen debuts ever.
I just watched Diary of a Wimpy Kid. We rented it because the kids were over for LaborDay weekend. But I was probably laughing as much as they were. "You have a lovely soprano voice. You'd be perfect for Dorothy."
I also rewatched the Departed. Fuckin' gangbusters awesome.

Re: What have you watched lately?
Two things, I've seen so many commercials for that fucking insipid Josh Duhamel/Katherine Heigl movie "Life in my pants" or whatever the fuck its called, I can honestly say I've seen the entire movie. Albeit out of order, but its shit so who gives a fuck? I swear each commercial is just a teeny tiny bit different from the rest of the commercials with a different 'cutesy' joke in it that I've defecto watched the entire shitty film.
And secondly, I went and saw The Social Network and LOVED it. I'm still not getting on Facebook though.

Re: What have you watched lately?
Looney Tunes: Back in Action. Absolutely unwatchable shit. I was extremely disappointed. It's like they tried to do something like the Muppet movies, with lots of cameos and attempts at pop culture jokes. And they failed miserably. If there wasn't a toddler insisting I not turn it, I wouldn't have lasted five minutes. I'm glad I didn't pay for this shit, as I considered doing when it came out.

Re: What have you watched lately?
I watched Batman Returns the other night. It still holds up as a Tim Burton film, but not so much as a Batman film. It holds up as a Burton film because of the hammy performances by the main cast, particularly DeVito and Walken. But the set design is damn claustrophobic. The suit is laughably constrictive. And dated references (The Love Connection is the punchline to one joke. Seriously?) like DJ scratching the CD don't help. Also, Batman was killing rampantly throughout the film. He sets one guy on fire with the Batmobile's jet engine, and stuffs a bomb in another guy's shorts before throwing him down an open sewer hole. He also punched Catwoman off a roof. Don't tell me he knew the kitty litter truck was going to happen by. I used to maintain the first two Batman films were not complete suck, but I guess I've been spoiled by the comic films of the last decade.
