I enjoyed his X-titles in the 90's.
Then again I read a lot of shitty comics on the 90's.

I recall his X-Titles as being really mediocre, generic action stories about guys with gritty teeth, and it was especially noticeable when he followed Gail Simonson, Chris Claremont (before he sucked), and John Byrne (before he sucked, too). I will definitely give him props for New Warriors, though, which was one of the most solid titles of the time.

Someone please explain to me the massive appeal Detective Comics has right now. It's supposed to be really good stories about Batwoman.

I propose the tried-and-true "lipstick on a pig" argument. If you put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig. If you write a good comic about Batwoman, it's still a comic about Batwoman. They could probably get someone to draw a piece of shit from 22 angles (one per page), and it'd have to, by definition, be better than any comic about Batwoman. That's not me being sexist. That's me pointing out how goddamned stupid the very concept of Batwoman is.

Has Morrison violated the most central tenets of the Geneva Convention yet? This might be his dumbest idea ever. By keeping him off a leash, Didio has proven that most of Morrison's ideas aren't very good.

would you care this much if the covers had the 'elseworlds' logo on them? i think the concept is rather cool, actually.

that said, i've already cut B&R from my pull-list, but whatev... i think i was doing it for the quitely art, not the morrison writing.

Batman having to fight his way through time to get back to the present, so he can fire Dick as Batman and leave Tim in limbo while his snigtarded bastard son is Robin? You really think that's a good idea? Honestly? Okay, if it was Superman, Green Lantern, even Martian Manhunter or Flash. But Batman is supposed to be a slightly crazy guy with a cool suit who outsmarts wacky criminals and then beats the hell out of them.

It's one thing to have "Batman in various historical contexts" if it's alternate versions. But if it's the Batman, it isn't so cool.

Of course, I think Batman should be more or less an urban legend, and even a lot of superheroes don't entirely believe he exists, so I think most of the current DCU incarnation of the character is shit. Sci-fi/fantasy in heavy doses doesn't work for me on Bats. I'd be more than happy if Alan Grant and Norm Breyfogle took over again, but I doubt it'd ever happen. It would actually get me buying a monthly again, though.

Late-Paleolithic Era (Caveman/Viking Batman)
a Pilgrim-era Gotham (Witch-hunter Batman)
a Pirate Batman
a "western" style Gotham with Cowboy Batman
a Noir Private Investigator Batman.
Weren't those all action figures at some point?

What I think could be pretty cool with Batman is not only should Bruce and Tim regain their mantles as Batman and Robin, but Dick and Damien should remain Batman and Robin.
Two Batmans and two Robins, coordinating their efforts to fight crime in Gotham.
Besides, what could scare criminals more than Batman and Robin being in two places at once?

i don't see how it's out of the realm of possibility. i still mourn the lost opportunities having two spider-men would have presented. two batmen and robins works for me.

I still sorta think having all the "Batman family" go to coordinated, mostly Batman-like, costumes to play up the urban myth aspect would be cool. No two descriptions quite jive, and sometimes he's in two or even three places at once.

They need to kill Batwoman. I'm not trying to be sexist here. Batwoman is just a fucking dumb idea. They didn't shoot Batgirl because Alan Moore was sexist; no, they shot Batgirl because Batgirl is stupid, but Barbara Gordon is not necessarily stupid when not Batgirl. Kathy Kane is stupid, so they should kill her.

Honestly, that shit gets some praise, and I know Rucka's a pretty good writer, but who outside of the most geeky fanboys actually likes Batwoman?

I don't care for either, but do you mean Batgirl or Batlesbian?

Batwoman (the heavily-promoted lesbian, Kathy Kane) is the headliner of Detective Comics, the first character to headline that book other than Batman himself since #26 back in 1939. The idea is fucking stupid. Plus, they re-used Batgirl's basic origin: someone wanted to make a difference and be anonymous, and adopted a female version of Batman's outfit. The difference is she hasn't become an official "Batman family" member... yet. Batgirl got shot up by the Joker. But, since Barbara was pretty cool aside from being Batgirl, she lived. Kathy isn't so cool. She should be eaten by Killer Croc.

I have no issue whatsoever with gay or lesbian characters, but let them be characters first and gay second. Hyping her as "the first mainstream lesbian superhero" makes her sexual orientation outweigh the fact that she's a dumbass in a retarded knockoff Batman suit in a lot of minds.

But isn't there also some new mysterious Batgirl in a costume similar to Barbara's old one?

You're kidding, right? DC Comics jacking off the worst of the early Silver Age continues.... :(

I just recall reading the preview descriptions for the next few months a while back, where they were being super-secret about her identity.
